What’s the purpose of the phone? To record points? I’m guessing it monitors the crosshair on the gun’s scope and monitor the timing of trigger to determine if the shot is a hit or not?

Really curious how this works

But practically - if this becomes popular, how do you tell a real gun (with phone strapped on to look similar) and a toy gun?

refer father.io, its quite old game (iirc, launched b4 2019), chinese version just adapted the laser into gun shape.

Last time low barrier of entry..... no need expensive gadget to motivate kids to run.... a single ball would suffice.

Now need  fully geared up with 100% battery level devices.

what kind of ball are we talking? some ball not cheap... even last time standard.

i saw one AR type game, where you put the phone on top of the gun, and you shoot the monsters you see on the phone

you can play without the gun, just run around shooting using the phone. was quite glitchy, not sure if it is still around or not
