Hi all, as title, how safe is it to buy furniture like dining table / sofa from taobao ? Obviously because of the price difference, most people would prefer buying from Taobao, I'm familiar with all the shipping procedures and fees, but want to hear actual feedback from people who've bought furniture from taobao, did they arrive perfectly fine ? How is the quality of the products ?

Many years back I bought some furniture like coffee table. Bar chairs..dining chair..light fixtures, table lamps.. that time tried to save money.. which I regretted, end up rebuying most of them locally because of the poor quality. Wasted quite a bit of money and lesson learnt. I suppose if you know how to source quality ones then it's fine? I've seen some people with quality taobao furniture. Else i wouldn't do it again if you ask me.. Most of the items arrived intact.. maybe just one or two having some dents. Penny wise pound foolish for me that time.

bought a metal cabinet from taobao thought it was cheap.
took rmb 200 to ship using sea. (ship using air was around rmb 500)
we even paid rmb 70 for them to repackage the product for international shipping.
when reach here, the cabinet door hinge was broken, probably due to impact when the shipping handlers throwing it around.

Got my 岩石with metal leg dining table from taobao for 1.1k. Shopee seller selling about 2k+ that time. Quality is good, shipped without extra packaging service and receive in good condition.

My advice
1.Please make sure the size is right for your dining area.
2.chat with seller to ask about table dimension and ask for free wood frame packing. Let them know it's going onto ship

my contacts in singapore do buy from tb for their homes

so far no complaints

guess need proper study on seller beforehand

Thanks for the feedback, so basically the most important thing is to read the seller's review of the product, make sure to find a reputable proper seller and that's about it ?

cant fully trust seller also

sometimes it's kinda hit or miss when it comes to bulky shipment

probably end up getting dents here n there

or maybe will need some diy to get things fixed if there is any upon arrival

Any idea what are the risks of buying wooden slab dining table that comes with chairs ? This is probably the only thing I'm planning to get from taobao.

my work desk. solid wood, still sturdy after 4 years.

I guess so la.. there are better quality products in tb, the prices will be higher, need to factor in shipping and risk of shipping, is it much more expensive here? If just a few hundred difference, better get it here.

Can I know how much u purchase for it and from which shop ? Quality wise as good as buying from local ?

If those in the price range of 1-1.5k MYR from tb ? Because local one cheapest is about 2.5 - 3k.

You could always look for factory direct that at online platform.

I found a few direct factory company, but the lowest I've seen is still about 3k for 6 seater wood dining table, you got some others to recommend ?

don't buy the cheapest, look for those Tmall or solid reviews. i used own china forwarding company, and remind the warehouse help you pack for overseas shipping. last time before covid the price for sea shipping is lower.. i forgot the exact price haha
