I just got my goldie last saturday. At 1st she was kinda sleepy all the time..but now she's hyper active to me..likes to bite stuffs when she sees anything i know its natural for puppies but i wonder how to get rid of this behaviour.
Btw she eats newspapers too =x i mean she swallows them o.o
Its friggin hard to potty train her...pees n poops all over my house..but i won't give up..

Hey there. Nice to know you got your golden retriever! My puppy was eating newspapers as well at the start. Hold his face and look into his eyes for about 10 seconds and say NO or whatever you want to say when you catch him in the act. Do it a few times and he will understand.

For the potty training, if you find him peeing at random places. Place a sheet of newspaper to soak its urine, then place this soiled piece onto the pile of newspapers where you want him to pee. They generally pee when they wake up, so carry him in a way that his body tilts til his nose is near the soiled newspaper. Let him sniff a bit and then let him stay in that area. GO CRAZY IF HE PEES ON THE NEWSPAPERS. Pet him, rub his tummy, say good boy and give him treats like theres no 2moro! Do this a few times and he will soon know where to pee, minus the occasional accident. =) All the best!

Hi Kelvin. Thanks for ur intro last time but unfortunately the puppy was actually sold so i got from another person. My puppy eats newspapers like crazy. Ur tips might work great on my pup will surely give it a try smile.gif  As for potty training she knows where to pee already. But just she poops on the floor  rclxub.gif every time cleaning her poops is really a hard time. Btw how's ur puppy doing? Is he naughty?

I see.. Do the same for the poop, though I know its kinda hard to catch him in the act as its not as frequent as peeing. >_<
My puppy's doing great man. With the help of a clicker, he comes to me, sits, spins and lies down on command. =D All learned in less than a week! I got mine from Clarencel.

Wa... so fluffy.

This is my golden retriever puppy at 12 weeks. I think he's a bit on the underweight side? He's a bit more fluffy after a bath though... lol

yeah.. ur GF still small there.. feed he more to pump him during this age..
*
With my current schedule, I feed him twice a day. Once morning, once night. This way I can make sure he goes potty before I go for work. Biscuits snacks in between. The amount I feed him is as much as he can eat in 5 minutes in his bowl. Should I feed him 3 times?

I'm just afraid he might lose what he learnt for his potty training as he is still considered as half trained. Some advice please?

Added on January 28, 2010, 6:20 pmjust a quick question..my dog seems to be like keep whinning and wanna come out always..
should i just leave it whinning or carry em out when it whines ? my shih tzu when she was at her age, i just leave her whinning and eventually she will stop and go to sleep..but my GR, when it is changing position to sleep oso will whine a while then oni continue to sleep...haha

planning to put her on playpen in the next 2 weeks..

If you want to let them out when they're whining, only do so a while AFTER the whining stops. Otherwise, they will think that whining will get what they want.

FYI, I kept my GR in my room since day one I got him until he was 5 months old. The result of that is..... LOTS of shedding meaning fur EVERYWHERE, floor, table, keyboard, many furballs. I whack my curtain and I will see fur flying everywhere like snow. Then there's the smell, he was trained to pee on a tray laid with pee pads which I change daily.

I have a very spacious room, I didn't plan to keep him in my room forever so now he's in my car porch. I can tell you its a helluva huge relief. My room is so much cleaner without a furball GR. I don't have to worry about the pee accidents that he sometimes have which requires some serious hectic cleaning.

So there you have it, if you can tolerate with all that. Keep your GR in your room! biggrin.gif
