Ahhhh Daisy is SO CUTE!

My Gr's name is Sophie, she's about 1 yr plus now, but she was born with a defect- she had an ectopic ureter- meaning her bladder and ureter not connected so she leaked urine all the time.

Cost me 2k to take her for diagnosis & surgery, and it improved, but sometimes she gets wet, coz her bladder damn weak.

Of course I hantemed the breeder but the poor lady also felt so bad because she bred before and no problems. And her dogs all damn nice, I got to the parents first.

I damn sayang Sophie so no way I'll give her up, just jaga her, I've been taking care of dogs all my life and my oldest dog is now 15! smile.gif

Yes. Supplements have been known to cure hip dysplasia. Reverse it. Magic pills, all of them. Remember to keep giving them the supplements their whole life.

it cannot cure this genetic defect. It's kind of like saying there's a cure for a birth mark. Or cancer. With tablets. Yknow.

YOu can, however improve the conditions. To cure, the dog will need their entire hip replaced surgically. Don't make such sweeping statements without research, please.

My Golden was born with a ectopic ureter. It can be IMPROVED, but not permanently fixed. A 70-80% improvement, but it it still there, weaker bladder, and this time, the bladder and ureter connects. It was all done surgically, of course. Complicated, yes. Expensive, yes.

For hips and bones, fish oil and glucosamine are the best. Seriously. Glucosamine. Amway's is expensive but good. For fish oil, there are ther brands. My dog is allergic to fish oil, so I use coconut oil and brewer's yeast instead. Wonderful result. Nutrivet makes an amazing brewers Yeast supplement.

One of the first things I checked with Brownee was his retrieving instinct. I threw a stick/twig. He trotted to it half-heartedly, sniffed it, and lost interest. Duh.

Then today I bought some tennis balls. It was like crack to him. Just the sight of the bright neon colour fascinated him, and when I bounced it off the floor he went wild.

I threw the ball and he chased after it, pounced on it, secured it in his jaws, and trotted back to me with it. We played fetch like this about 20 times today on the lawn. The perfect retriever.

It appears retrievers only retrieve objects of value, not any random sticks.

LOL that's cute. Mine has a love for those darn colourful balls too, even at age 7. Oh and whenever we come home from anywhere, she brings the ball to us. Hilarious.

Sticks don't seem to be of interest. Neither were shoes, when she was a pup. Mine's a stranger one- she doesn't overeat, is alright with water (doesn't love or hate it, neutral), LOVES mud, is cheeky and BARKS. Boy, can she bark. Scares delivery men all the time.

You should take the issue up with your breeder. Highly irresponsible breeding, this. Poor pup.

hi all golden retrivers' papa and mama. I'd really love to adopt a golden retriever myself but I've decided not to buy and adopt instead. Anybody's golden retriever having puppies soon? thumbup.gif

Usually people would sell their pure breed pups. If you're keen on adopting on that might be a little older, see Petfinder.

anyone knows of a good vet to diagnose hip issues?

a goldendoodle is having issues after a fun weekend at the beach. refuses/reluctant to jump or stand on her hind. the regular vet says probably a tendon inflammation/overstretched (few weeks back) but it has been over a month since the beach and still not back to normal.

Try UPM vets. They have the equipment and are able to Xrays on the spot.

My GR was born with an ectopic ureter and they took care of the diagnosis and major surgery. It was years ago. Dr. Nor tended to my dog, and last year it was another lady, Dr Goh. Both are very kind and nice.

Look for Bark-a bout. they have a big swimming pool there, my golden now age 7, his hips is getting weaker too, what i do is reduce his weight and feed stronger glucosamine. He's been taking glucosamine at the age of 1. how old is your GR?

Have you join Golden Retriever Club - Malaysia in Facebook?  smile.gif

You can ask a lot of questions there and a lot owner are sharing their experience, photos etc.

Let me know when you request to join, and also answer all the questions ya, haha, we automatically reject everyone that did not answer the questions.

Hello all. Just recently adopted a lab-mixed called Honey (her first owner was old and his kids couldn't keep Honey; her second owner's daughter has bad allergies). She's a 6 yo ultra quiet dog who just loves kids. I had her home since yesterday noon and not once did I hear her bark.

Anyway, anyone know if there are any FB groups for labs? We are based in Seremban, btw - which sometimes makes it a nightmare trying to look for good quality dog food. I've decided to just order online la. cool2.gif

Oh, here's a pic. smile.gif

HI. I knew Honey's previous owners daughters. She was loved by them. She's a sweetheart.

There are some lab groups- I think there may be one like the Golden Retrivers of Malaysia ones. As for dog food- what were they feeding her before? Kibble? Are you planning to get Kibble too?

Pet Lovers Centre has some really good varieties. But I'm sure if there are any in Seremban.

Ya, it turned out that I know the first owner's daughter. LOL. They miss her heaps when I got in touch with them.

She was on Probalance before this. I have moved her to Back2Nature Lamb kibble. Occasionally she'll get some wet food (same brand). Will put her on this brand for the next couple of months while I do up some research on BARF and raw feeding.

Surprisingly, I manage to find Back2Nature, Zignature and Acana at the pet shop near my house but the price is at least RM10 more ex than PLC here at IPC. @.@

Damn! Maybe transport charges? Usually if you're a member at the pet stores, there's an additional discount. I'm so glad to hear Honey is with a dog lover. <3
