Sorry, am a noobiez when it comes to telco plans.

I have used prepaid and postpaid but rarely change plans, phone also I bought separately no contract. (old and cheap android phone, I poor, haha)

I tried to look for review and read all the comparisons for different telco plans but end up more confused and very headache. rclxub.gif

=================

This is my current situation and usage, any idea which is best for me?

Home (for entire family): Unifi 100mbps with UnifiTV, pay RM130++ per month.

Main phone: Digi postpaid 58 (Rm60++), unlimited calls, 16GB data, not sure how much hotspot. (no contract)

Separate phone (for grandfather): Digi postpaid 38 (RM40++), unlimited calls, not sure how much data or hotspot. (no contract)

Total paid: RM240++ monthly.

=================

Issue: My old (6 years) cheap android phone damaged and will die soon, not worth repair, I wanna get new phone but afraid too expensive, so looking to subscribe telco contract with phone for first time in my life, haha. But after reading the various comparisons and pricing details, I get a huge migraine, dont know how to choose.

I'm low income girl, no hubby or kid, working to support grandparents and younger siblings, parents are "not available" (sorry long sad story, no point telling).

Anyway, I'm looking for a way to pay LESS but for the same or better services combined (Home internet + main phone line + extra line for grandpa). My siblings use prepaid and they settle themselves, I only help when they low on money.

So, is there a cheaper way to combine these services and still get a new phone? Or should I buy phone separately and go with prepaid?

Oh, got one condition, cannot change unifi because grandparents addicted to UnifiTV, its their only budget entertainment. They raised me and siblings, never ask for much, so this is the least I could do for them, now that they are old and retired. Unifi also for entire family, siblings need it for studying too, I use it for work related things and entertainment.

Any recommendations? Thanks in advance for any help. notworthy.gif

You can’t get Unifitv without Unifi so you’re stuck there

There’s a new Unifi package for rm169 and you get 300mbps, Netflix and a 30gb mobile line. That’s pretty good. You just need to figure out one more plan. Perhaps if your grandfather don’t use much, he can change to prepaid too.

Alternatively you can stick to your current Unifi plan and both of you change to hotlink postpaid. Rm50-60/month can get a free phone with contract. There’s a RM30 postpaid plan that’s quite decent for your grandfather too.

U better change job . Yes post paid 35 come with a 800-900rm phone that u just need to pay 240 one off ( 5g phone )for it . That plan comes with 5 g speed ( 4-5X yr current unifi speed ) and insane 150gb quota ( this quota can share as hotspot no limitation ) . U just need 2-3 yes 35 postpaid ( how many bijik phone u need determine on yr on la ) now and u can save more then half dy .
I cut my time subscription after got 5g speed , totally no point over paying for slower speed .

Make a research first on which telco have coverage at your place and office.
Using prepaid also not bad. I'm using unifi prepaid. Unlimited call and internet for rm35 per month. I think more prepaid have about the same price and perk. Postpaid I use Umobile, Rm72 per month, unlimited call and 300GB internet. They give free phone. Contract for 2 years.

1. Is there anyway that you can find out which portion of the Unifi TV that is necessary by your grandparents?
- Perhaps from there you might be able to make do with cheaper / better plan with only minimal learning curve for them to get used to new platform.

2. For your mobile lines, can you tell us which state/city you are currently in?
- What aspect of the mobile line is important to you, other than the price? i.e. Hotspot / 5G data

3. Your 'New' phone, any requirements? I suppose most of the phones now are 5G ready so I believe that would also means that you will need 5G data if possible.

To do to reduce costs at the moment
What I can think of at the moment, which is probably not so ethical but worth a shot.

Unifi
- 'Pretend' to port out, i.e. go other provider, register, and they will contact TM to transfer.
- TM will counter offer you a better deal for you to stay.
- Take the offer.
*if UnifiTV is die die must with no options to change at all.

Digi
- Before you share more about your plans, this is what you can do for your existing line.
- Price wise I think it would be similar, but if renew your plans (no contract) to the latest plans, you should get more data for both your plans.

Your Unifi should be quite some time already.
I believe u can gi tmpoint change to "stay with us 4.0" for RM79 addon unifi total around RM100 i think.

For digi postpaid depends what u need. Mine is RM28 with unlimited calls and 100 SMS and 8GB data (can hotspot).

Simple... MNP to XOX One Family... principal line RM39, each supp line RM10 only...

The money saved is more than enough to buy a 5G phone.

since ur main line now is digi.

just take digi contract with free/cheap phone.

the plan start at rm70 (150gb), extra rm12 than ur current bill.
(the plan is actually digi80 but u need to pay only rm70)

u can view it here:
https://www.celcomdigi.com/devices/pakej-me...imat#price-list

take samsung A15 as example:

12 months contract, u need to pay rm299.
then continue pay bill rm70 for 12 months.
after 12 months, can recontract with another phone (another rm299 etc.)

or 24 months contract u got the phone for FREE.
just need to pay rm70 for 24 months.

if u take for 24 months, lets count the extra rm12 from ur current bill, rm12x24 = rm288 this can consider as the "price" for the phone.

next, ur grandpa, if the number is also under ur mykad, then u can take the number to become ur family line rm40 with 90gb quota.
(if not, can also do the transfer ownership)
bonus: digi usually will give new plan 50% for family line either for 6 months or 12 months, so it will be just rm20.
if need even lower family line, digi got rm30 with 15gb quota. 50% will become rm15.

notworthy.gif

edited: all digi plan mentioned here come with unlimited local calls and hotspot quota deduct from the plan quota

Everything is good. I think the thing with MVNO is that they lease a certain amount of bandwidth from Celcom. Maybe there are areas that may not get as fast but where I stay and work (in Kepong), everything is fine though. I have been using XOX since MCO 1.0 and so far internet is the least of my problem. Before 5G, they are slow to roll out VOLTE and whenever calls come in, everything switched to 2G which is awful. However since 5G, everything is implemented with VOLTE, VOWIFI, working flawlessly.

Personally I think the plan is okay, not too expensive or cheap. In comparison, my son who used XOX Prepaid only pay like RM80 yearly. RM25 for 365 validity plus another RM50 to buy 30GB + 100 minutes (depending on promotion). Every month activate 2GB to use.

I don't think you can tweak further because I tweaked mine as well to be super frugal. I'm still on Digi RM38 like your grandpa. What you can do is downgrade your Digi RM58 to the new RM40 5G SE. The Unifi+UnifiTV is probably the cheapest combo already. Other option like any 100Mbps + Sooka will end up slightly more than your RM130. I'm on Maxis RM89+RM10 for land line, Astro RM43.15 for the oldies. For me, just get a cheap but reliable phone like Samsung (A05s, A15, A25, etc) due to their 2 Android + 4 years security update. Most phones fuck up because there's no proper software update and not so much on hardware issue. Those phone plan usually require you to sign up for package higher than your RM58 right now. The RM40 Digi 5G SE is already more than enough of data.

Yes SWU no include unifitv so that would be RM79 + RM30
Or u can go tmpoint to nego see if they can give u better promo.

Alternatively if ur relationshio to neighbour is quite good can try sub their internet like paying them RM50/month?

My postpaid plan name is Digi Postpaid 28, although it used to be a different name previously.
This is a retention plan not available publicly. I actually wanted to convert to Prepaid but the pic there say got this cheaper plan so i downgrade to this RM28
No phone because afaik for phone package its only worth it if u get their higher priced plan. Since i dont need that much internet so it is cheaper for me to buy phone outside with installment.
Plan price higher = phone price cheaper.
Plan price lower = phone price expensive.

Don't know what this means, haha.

For the RM28 plan, need ask them at Digi office right? Cannot do online?

The hotspot is combined with the 8GB ka or is it separate with less GB?

for my case . i know what i need or how many Data/call i use , so can save a lot.
last time using YES rm15 for 10GB data using for 1month , call rate also cheap 1min 9cent .
tben i found that i not use that much data , just using 1GB or less , so find Hotlink Pantas , it can buy data can use for 365day , +can buy 365day validation , so RM10 buy 5GB can use around 3~4month . calculate 1year then monthly average using RM5,
but the call for hotlink pantas also weak , 1min 30sec , so i search for call case , found unifi Bebas (no more this plan) , very good for call purpose cause i not chat more for call , just call for remind (working need) , my unifi bebas line register at Dec2022 , simcard RM10 , topup RM10 to buy RM7-60min , use until today Jun2024 (only use RM20 total , still left 26min)

Wow, looks good.

What means 40GB but 30GB hotspot? 10GB reserved for phone only ka?

For prepaid, how to make sure it doesnt expire each month? Because I afraid forgot to reload.

30gb can hotspot frm 40gb quota
If dont hotspot then use all 40gb quota

U need to set monthly alarm reminder in ur hp to reload
Set to 25 days. Dont set monthly coz this prepaid folo 30 days not monthly

If accidentally expired or credit empty, they won't just delete my number right?

I can just reload and reactivate online?

Also, credit empty still can receive incoming calls? Make whatsapp calls over wifi?

Yes reload and activate. But got grace period
Yes can receive call
Yes can Whatsapp call with wifi.

Another alternative
Get astro broadband. 100mbps plus astro for rm140. For grandpa

For mobile, stick to Digi rm25 x2
Total cost 190

Phone buy separately. Now rm600 can get decent phone
