Missed the match but from the highlights yeah the defence definitely needs sorting out. All 4 goals scored were really good goals and being so late in the game, will be a confident booster for the rest of the season.

How I cannot understand is VAR farking us up. I mean how is that not a deliberate handball and a sending off. He definitely touched the ball, changed the trajectory else Ekitike would've been on goal 1v1. Seems like a tough season ahead with regards to VAR.

It just shows how much the team trusts Rio. For Szobo to be aware that Rio is in a better position and trusting him to make the most of the opportunity.
Unbelievable. Credit also to Slot for putting on a 16 y.o. at 2-2. With us needing to defend numerous corners and high crosses that was a very bold move that paid off.

The collapsed deal for Guehi is a slap in the face for delaying a few million quid from early negotiations. Would I rather have kept Quansah and save the money on Leoni? Absolutely.
So we were originally thin at CB, now we are left with Leoni as a replacement for Quansah. Title challenge will depend hugely on VVD staying fit, Gomez staying fit, Leoni adapting to the PL quickly, and Konate keeping his head right.

The situation is the same. If the club sell Konate on deadline day Slot is going to rage as well.
We had all summer knowing CP ready to cash in and reinvest, player wants to come, and price is about there. But we lowballed 30m and let the transfer drag on.
Who knows if we got him in early we would've won the community shield as well.
I just have a bad feeling with aging VVD, unproven Leoni, injury-prone Gomez and uncommitted Konate as our CB. We all saw how valuable Grav is in midfield so I hope we don't have to play him at CB. Or Endo.

I feel like Slot should drop Wirtz to the bench until he gels fully with his teammates. At the moment offering nothing and would rather Szobo is there and Bradley at RB.
Gakpo has always been so predictable, he almost never goes outside, making it so easy to defend against unless he pulls a worldie with his right foot cutting in. The rare occasion Ekitike wandered out there, the threat was so much more. Either Slot brings on Rio, or bring Chiesa and move Ekitike to the left.
Again another toothless, slow build up game. Can't be dropping points here after beating Arsenal last week right.

This is what happens when parking the bus. Slot got it right with his subs, but I thought Gakpo should've went off instead of Wirtz.
Putting on Bradley and then Frimpong gives us more width, with Burnley only interested in defending the penalty area, we just gonna try to hit low and high crosses in and hope our attackers attack the right positions, or get a deflection or in this case catch a lucky stray hand.
Was really worried that Salah might miss given he missed his last 2, but what a cool penalty under so much stress.

Ekitike is playing like a certain #9 that we had in the past. So good movement and instinctive finishing.
Grav volley was also top class, and good eye to assist for 2nd goal.
Is a derby game so I would gladly take 3 points and no injuries.

Leoni out for up to a year. Better pray VVD and Konate stay fit. Gomez can't be relied upon, and I think lesser being said about Endo and Grav or even Robbo playing at CB the better.
Should have just stumped up the 5mil or so at the start of the summer window and get the Guehi done early. Or even send Gomez the other way as at 1 point Palace was keen on that.

Unfortunately, Wirtz and Macca too similar, I think they have confusion on their roles. Wirtz is not a left forward, Chiesa or Gakpo to come on will provide much more threat and balance. And it is obvious on current form, Ekitike is much much ready and better than Isak. So stupid of his red care seriously
Konate and Bradley better buck up in the 2nd half. Tough job ahead will take a draw now.

Nott Forest style defeat for sure. I think we really missed the running of Ekitike. And should've started Chiesa instead.
And when will Slot have the balls to drop Salah or sub him out when it is not working. He can't be on the field only for penalties. Luckily it was inconclusive if the ball touched his hand. But the whole reason he put up his hand was to dramatise that someone is fouling him in the box.
Really hope Chiesa can get a run out on RW.
Oh and even conceding 2 goals, Alisson MOTM for me.

On a side note, Mateta has been performing consistently in the PL for few seasons already. Wonder why no big club pick him up yet.
And Guehi, so underrated and even today, did not put a foot wrong. It's no wonder Palace are 18 games unbeaten and counting. Glasner is a top top coach I hope that Manchester Red club don't poach him.

Anyway, at least we lost to a very good team and away from home. I think a lot of teams will come to Selhurst Park and struggle, and they don't have a certain Alisson in goal.
Learn from the mistakes and move on.
