actually little different from internet cable. only thing required is probably a repeater to reduce power loss (voltage drop). That's why super long cables nowadays possible.

this project is just 1 of many for sinkieland. They also have sama sama for cambodia, vietnam and indo. many longer than 1000km (which will be longer than the 720km in this project). ASEAN power grid.

Repeaters need power, right?
We use power to boost signal (in the case of internet cables). We don't use power to boost power.

off topic a bit, but reminds me of Japan.

They have 2 grids, one at 50 Hz, and another at 60 Hz.

Buy a microwave in Japan and the instructions say which part of Japan can you use it.

If fun if you're moving from Kagoshima to Tokyo (and vice versa) and you want to bring your appliances.

The frequency boundary cuts through the Gunma, Shizuoka, and Niigata prefectures.

Fun times when you're moving within Myoko/Itoigawa city and need to know which part of the grid you're on.

There was once a proposal for Singapore to import electricity from Australia. The power cable involved is even longer...

They are sending DC for less power loss. So Sarawak -> AC -> DC --------> Inverter at Singapore -> AC again.

Laos is just a test run. That is supplied by proxy ie Laos is supplying Thailand, which is supplying Bolehland, and then Bolehland supply to Sinkieland via an upgraded MY-SG connector that can supply 1GW electricity either way.

The real deals will only happen post 2030, mainly via direct to sinkieland HVDC undersea power cables. Many years later.

Nothing will be forever green is like life experience bitter first sweet later or sweet first bitter later due to loneliness, got to choose one to start with if just because all also don't seem to be green end up we can go back to stone age, stone age people still chopping tree for energy like burning etc .

sinkieland looking for renewable electricity import to reach net zero. They don't want electricity import generated by fossil fuels (TNB/YTL - mostly peninsular fossil fuel).

Sarawak is ideal cos lots of dams ie hydropower. Sinkieland won't dare to rely solely on bolehland, too much potong risk. That's why projects include renewable electricity from Cambodia (1GW), Vietnam (1.2GW) and indonesia (2GW).

5 to 10 years to match Singapore?
They are on high speed train, how to chase?
Sarawak need 5 to 10 years to develop proper infra to support all the so call development.
Sarawak also don't have so many workforce to do such development, unless they allow bangla workforce to move in.
