Assalamualaikum.
Alhamdulillah. Baru berkesempatan nak menjawab semua persoalan, maklumlah kami membawa group warga emas yang pergerakan mereka agak terhad.
Saya sudah menghubungi pihak restoran sebentar tadi untuk menghuraikan semua kecelaruan yang telah terjadi.
Kisahnya,
Ye, memang betul pihak kami menghubungi restoran tersebut.
Kami bertanyakan samada di restoran tersebut adakah dapat menampung 25pax dr group kami.
Kami melakukan survey untuk memilih tempat yang terbaik untuk group warga emas kami ini.
Saya memaklumkan pada mereka bahawa sekiranya kami jadi kesana, kami akan menghubungi terlebih dahulu pihak mereka dan jangka masa yang akan kami tiba adalah dalam pukul 1.30pm waktu di Jepun sekiranya kami jadi ke sana.
Memandangkan harga yang tinggi dan lokasi yang agak jauh dari tempat kami, kami menukar ke restoran yang berdekatan dimana makcik2 dari group kami mudah untuk berjalan.
Kami ingin memaklumkan yang mana pihak TIDAK SAMA SEKALI memberikan greenlight untuk mereka masak.
Saya berharap tuan puan boleh menilai dari penerangan pihak kami.
Saya telah menghubungi En Muski Yusof dan menerangkan segalanya.
Saya meminta isu ini di hentikan agar tiada tindakan susulan dari pihak kami.

But you called!!! If you called it means you already had a reservation in your communication. Else the restaurant would not have prep food for the exact amount of people!!!

If you called to ask if they could have 25 people to sit, and they said yes. Then thats the end of call and this would not happen. The dumb ass company sure must have told them to reserve place for 25 pax "IN CASE THEY COME OVER". You can't do this!!! Its very irresponsible. Even I order and booking here they sure prepare siapa n go eat. Time saving.

They never ask them to proceed. They just book
So meaning. They can cincai call a restaurant and book sesuka hati then no show

I guess they done this any times already.

Normally, for groups (like those from Malaysia), we offer a set menu tailored for groups, and it's generally well received after getting approval from the travel agencies or guides in terms of menu and pricing.

I proposed the same to this tour guide, who agreed to the budget, time, and number of seats reserved. As lunchtime (13:30) was approaching, I sent a message via WhatsApp to reconfirm the time and number of people, but although it was read, there was no reply. No response to WhatsApp calls either!! Calls to their Malaysian phone number (which are expensive, by the way) also went unanswered!! No replies to my messages!!

To top it off, they blocked incoming calls on WhatsApp!!
There have been last-minute cancellations before, but we've usually managed them with an apology from the other side, which we reluctantly accepted. However, this time, it was a true no-show with no communication whatsoever.

From my experience, it’s somewhat typical in Malaysia for people to be casual with time or to forget, and until now, I thought it was unavoidable. But this was the first time I encountered such a lack of responsibility.
For the restaurant, not only did it result in food waste and a loss of staff working hours, but more than that,
we had to turn away several groups of customers who had come to dine, asking them to leave, keeping the reserved seats empty until the end of this booking, which was truly regrettable...

The loss of 25 servings of Nasi Lemak... It’s just too sad...
I dislike seeing more customers suffer from similar issues due to the unplanned nature of this tour guide’s handling, so I will expose the name, contact details, and the likely travel agency this guide is affiliated with.

It's really troublesome, but if there’s a cancellation, I just wish they would inform us.

I believe it stem from penyakit here.
This issue also happen here.
That's why most restaurant owner already put the term non refundable down-payment to avoid this ffk people.

I thought restaurant has a policy of pay deposit to book for large pax? To proceed food order, usually restaurants will ask you to pay upfront, if u FFK then restaurant no loss for the foods. Why this restaurant go prepare the food just by confirming verbally via whatsapp? LOL in this case i think this restaurant is sohai doh.gif

I have no idea why would anyone want to go to a foreign country and only to eat nasi lemak instead of the local delicacies there.

Also won't this make the Japanese extremely furious that as a host when visitors go to their country they are expected to cook the visitors their own country dishes to satisfy their requirement instead of serving their own local hospitality pride food?

Don't you think Arab is a more suitable and better destination for these people?

The tour group consist of mostly old people, probably they just go there to sight see, take photos, shopping, but no intention to eat something exotic and still have to watch what they eat especially for Halal conscious one.

They actually don't favor welcoming foreign tourists to their country. Don't think money can buy their pride. For decades their rise was actually through self industrialization, hard work and developing domestic industries which led the country's growth.Until the 80s when they were in the same position as China today at its peak bubble economy being wrecked by the West with its stock market and currency manipulation.

Japanese parliament has recently brought up the issue of foreign migrants are actually a threat to their national security. They're going to tighten immigration laws even further after this.

For group meal booking, restaurant owner already confirmed the meal type, pax and agreement as said in his post.

However, he didn't expect the entitled and irresponsible people just FFK like this... All the trust gone.

Beware of dealing these people in future.

no harm requesting for deposit if customer want to make large reservation lor.....it's customer's choice if they want to proceed with term of deposit or not.......as a business, they need to safeguard themselves from last minute cancellation.

Japanese politicians recently kept bringing up about the risks of social security to its local population with the surge of tourists and migrants.

It's going to be tough for tourists from now on, not just booking deposits they're probably going to have some costly tourism tax/surcharges, increase things way higher than before to adjust for the declining Yen and put up more "Japanese-Only" signs after this.

also this is japan, they dont have a tonne of space to cater for alot of people. the restaurant will rugi if they have to turn away customers. thats why many people complain you cannot eat slow in japan. there are certain shops if you eat slow youre making them lose money as their table turnover is low

when you are reserving, you better be coughing up the monies in exchange for them losing the potential customers that couldve entered the store

If you at japan and reserve table / food / time with a restaurant, they will prepare the food for you and once you arrive at the reserve time they will bring the food out

They think like malaysia when you arrive only they start to cook? The tour company also funny, i though they plan the journey and food through out the trip and dont tell me last minute they change here change there because not enough budget

PETALING JAYA – Sebuah restoran di Jepun yang menghidangkan makanan tradisi rakyat Malaysia terpaksa membuang 25 set nasi lemak gara-gara seorang ejen pelancongan dari Malaysia membatalkan tempahan tanpa memaklumkan kepada mereka.

Kejadian itu dikongsikan oleh pekerja restoran tersebut, Sou Tanaka pada hantaran Facebook di dalam bahasa Jepun, yang kemudiannya dijelaskan oleh Kamal Zharif Kamaludin iaitu rakyat Malaysia yang menetap di Jepun.

“Bagi yang datang ke Jepun, pastikan kalian datang ke restoran setelah menempah meja (booking). Di bawah ini kes restoran makanan Malaysia di Shibuya, Tokyo yang menerima tempahan meja oleh seorang ejen pelancongan Malaysia. Dia tidak telefon semula restoran untuk batalkan tempahan.

ADVERTISING

“Pengakhirannya, restoran itu tunggu dan tunggu tanpa sebarang khabar berita. Pihak restoran terpaksa membuang begitu sahaja set nasi lemak untuk 25 orang,” katanya dalam hantaran tersebut.

Kamal Zharif turut menjelaskan mengenai salah satu perkara yang perlu dielakkan apabila membuat tempahan tempat duduk di restoran menerusi budaya orang Jepun.

“Boleh katakan ia adalah salah satu ‘redflag’ di Jepun, lagi-lagi ruang meja adalah terhad dan bukan luas seperti di negara-negara lain.

“Akhirnya, cara sebegitu akan jatuhkan kepercayaan orang Jepun dan akan jatuhkan air muka ejen pelancongan yang penat-penat membuat tempahan restoran.


“Jadi, apabila menerima klien yang suka-suka batalkan tempahan walaupun dia sendiri sudah tiba di depan pintu restoran sama, kita perlu beritahu kepada ejen pelancongan lain supaya tidak ambil lagi klien itu. Sungguh penting untuk kita tahu ketika berada di Jepun,” katanya.

Sementara itu, menerusi hantaran asal Sou Tanaka, ramai rakyat Malaysia marah dengan tindakan ejen pelancongan tersebut selain memohon maaf kepada lelaki berkenaan.

“Sangat teruk ejen pelancongan ni. Buat aduan kepada Pejabat Tourism Malaysia, saya sangat marah dan sedih baca story anda berkenaan ejen pelancongan tak bertanggungjawab,” kata Tarmizi Rahman.


“Memalukan Malaysia saja. Kalau tak reti bertanggungjawab jangan buat bisnes lain kali. Duduk diam-diam di rumah tak susahkan orang. Minta maaf kepada restoran itu dan bayar kerugian mereka,” komen Syafiq Fadzli.

“Mohon jangan salahkan Malaysia. Ia bukan sebab negara, tapi sikap individu,” kata Abdul Rashid Abdul Manaf.

Malah, rakyat Malaysia turut melepaskan kemarahan melalui akaun media sosial dipercayai ejen pelancongan tersebut. – KOSMO! ONLINE

From my experience booking for a group of 20 pax in tokyo..book a dinner set which cost around RM 8k via whatsapp..but the restaurant don't even bother to take any deposit even after i insist..

But after this case viralled sure they will be more cautious with Msia group..this kind of people really give Msia a bad name la..stupid

Reputation restaurant will cook and wait for you. Once u arrive u eat and go.
That why we do reservation. So that people save time .
Even in Penang we always do that when have team lunch.

If canot make it call to cancel. At least one 1H before.

Actually in Japan, if you do book in advance and then confirm the type of meals etc., the restaurant will generally prepare the meals for the set time.

This doesn't happen in many places but it does happen in many places Japan.

I've been to Japan many times and even in some smaller street stalls, they do reserve the seats for you through trust if you call ahead to inform you're going and need a seat or two.

The least the tour operator should have done is to answer the calls or reply the WhatsApp messages when the restaurant operator messaged them multiple times and cancel ahead.

Because a lot of tourists or non-locals mis-use this age old tradition of trust, more restaurants now are having patrons to put down payment for reservations.

Even if they eat seafood got issues about the soya sauce, mirin, ponzu sauce, okonomiyaki sauce, powder or seasonings. Most got liquor and same got pork inside. Can’t guarantee halal ingredients there. Can only eat either kosher or vegetarian. Really defeats the purpose of travelling. Might as well stay home or only go to ME countries. Went to Doha and Dubai. You can really eat tanpa was was there.

A reservation means they are reserving TABLES ONLY for 20pax. A reservation does not mean PLS COOK 20 MEALS FOR MY GUESTS. No deposit , no cook as simple as that. I dont care where in the world you are, business is business.

U wanna reserve tables no problem. But dont expect the restaurant to prepare food without deposit. Thats why when u buy big ticket items, they ask for deposit. To filter out the serious ones and the just ask for fun type

that is common practice there if walk in. it's called table charge but usually at izakaya. family diner dont have these so called charges which is what the post is all about.
all the while the restaurant operate like that no problem then come this one guy pattern like this. u think leh?

It was at an omakase restaurant which had less than 20 seats per session. So all bookings had to be made with a deposit. This was 8 years ago when i visited Tokyo

Its common practice if a local Japanese is making a booking then different story la. This booking is for foreigners. Common sense need to put deposit.

Omakase usually start at 25k -35K Yen. Alot omakaze no more serving foreign who can't speak Japanese.

Lately got one famous omakase chef fight with Chinese tourist due to can't communicate. That chef reputation all gone.

During my trip in Hokkaido, one day we booked a local driver to drive us around Biei who is suppose to pick us up from Asahikawa. But our train from Sapporo got delayed due to heavy snow. But I already informed the driver the moment we got the delay announcement , I keep update him our status and ETA until we met at the Asahikawa station. Despite we were late for almost 2 hours, he still welcome us with hospitality and show us around the best he could (due to the delay, we have to give up a few places)

本日朝、当日のランチタイムに予約をしたいと あるツアーガイド(マレーシア人)から店に電話連絡があり、私が対応しました。
ウチの店で団体様(マレーシアとかね)には、通常、団体向けセットメニューで提案し、旅行会社やガイドの了解を得て、概ねご満足していただいているメニューと価格でご提案しています。
今回のツアーガイドにも同様に提案し、同意を得て、予算と時間と席数のご予約をいただきました。
today's morning, the day we received a call from a tour guide (malaysian)asking reservation for lunch time, which i answered it/entertain it.
for our restaurant (specifically for malaysian tour group), we proposed a set menu since its meant for big group like company's annual conference, and its cheap + satisfying.
the tour guide agrees it, and after calculation of price + time + pax the reservation was made.
時間(13:30のお昼時っ)が近づいたので、whatsapp で時間と人数の再確認メッセージを送ったが、既読はつくけど返信なし。
whatsappからの通話にも返事がなしっ!!電話番号(マレーシア番号、通話料金高いですよ)へ電話しても応答なしっ!!メッセージへの返信なしっ!!
挙句の果て、whatsapp通話は着信拒否っ!!
as the time nearing 1.30pm lunch time, i messaged tour guide using whatsapp to double check the number of pax, there is indicator of message being read but there is no reply.
attempt to whatsapp call also failed to reach the tour guide. (we even called the number normally although we know there will be international charges for it) There is no answer after normal call. countless message still no responds.
in summary, they refuses to answer all attempts via whatsapp.

for our restaurant (specifically for malaysian tour group), we proposed a set menu since its meant for big group like company's annual conference, and its cheap + satisfying.
the tour guide agrees it, and after calculation of price + time + pax the reservation was made.
時間(13:30のお昼時っ)が近づいたので、whatsapp で時間と人数の再確認メッセージを送ったが、既読はつくけど返信なし。
whatsappからの通話にも返事がなしっ!!電話番号(マレーシア番号、通話料金高いですよ)へ電話しても応答なしっ!!メッセージへの返信なしっ!!
挙句の果て、whatsapp通話は着信拒否っ!!
as the time nearing 1.30pm lunch time, i messaged tour guide using whatsapp to double check the number of pax, there is indicator of message being read but there is no reply.
attempt to whatsapp call also failed to reach the tour guide. (we even called the number normally although we know there will be international charges for it) There is no answer after normal call. countless message still no responds.
in summary, they refuses to answer all attempts via whatsapp.

yeah, coz im currently self learning, can slowly read it only. usually if i cant read (due to my katakana still sux) i just paste the whole text and listen the audio.

in the end, so far what i see the scenario is that this so called reservation is made in a rush.

received call in the morning but reservation made for the very same day for afternoon.

Have heard this several times before as well and was very surprised. Also saw Japan promoting this during leadup to Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

There are apps and many websites/socmed pages dedicated to guide Muslims travellers.

And that is the crux of it. If the agent responded to the messages or calls, all of this could've been avoided. But they gaslight, deflect and double down. No acknowledgement they failed to answer the call or reply messages.

All that goodwill given, can't even respond to the shop. Really low class.
