My house not yet. My boss house/which I work from, just start to explore solar as the bill jump from rm700 to rm1000 from January 2024.


Battery works, but honestly would not advise the Bosses to get battery system as we have the NEM. Which is the cheapest way to get Solar and enjoy best of both worlds.

Once the NEM ends, if it ever ends, than consider to self supply Battery system.


Solar helps and also is a drag on the Grid on some instances. But it makes sense most of the time.

When weather is hot, people on Aircon, and the solar panels is just right at the peak performance.


However when there is a cascading problem due to supply issues, it can easily become a mode ferk situation that cannot recover unless do load shedding at grid level.

Cost and efficiency for day trip from Subang Jaya to Gua Musang.
Total Distance: 580km (290km each way)
Battery SOC: 100% to 40% from Subang Jaya to Gua Musang, @ 125wh/km
Charge at DC Handal Gua Musang 47kW DC: 40% to 90%, 45min, negligible as it is lunch time
Battery SOC: 90% to 35% from Gua Musang to Subang Jaya @ 113wh/km
Travel time each way: approx 4 hours
Car: Tesla Model 3 RWD @ 60kwh battery
Charging Cost: DC charging 33kWh @ RM1.3 = RM42.90, actual figure recorded from the charger display
Charging Cost: AC charging 43kWh @ RM0.7 (assuming worst rate for residential tariff with RM0.10 TNB surcharge plus SST etc) = RM30.10, already considered charging efficiency of 90%
Total Charging Cost = RM73 or 35.6l petrol equivalent
Equivalent petrol consumption efficiency: 580/35.6 = 16.3km/l
My house is with solar roof so my AC charging cost is much lower as my solar electricity cost is approx RM0.3/kwh, so my actual total charging cost would be lower at about RM55.80 or 27.2l petrol equivalent @ 21.3km/l equivalent petrol efficiency

Even if BYD had hiked up the price of it's spare parts like the new EV batteries, the 50kWh LFP Blade battery would still need to cost around US$20k or RM96k at the BYD factory.

So, I do not see the price of Chinese EV cars dropping substantially in the near future, so as to be able to compete with the price of ICE-V cars, unless the Chinese EV car-makers will sell at a loss in the long run, eg the Proton X70 price starts at RM99k whereas the similar BYD Atto 3 price starts at RM150k in Malaysia.

Is your BYD battery replacement of RM20k sourced from CCP China.? Is the RM20k figure for new or remanufactured/recond battery replacement.? If for new battery replacement for BYD Atto 3, the cost in Thailand and Malaysia is much more expensive, eg shipping fees.

Thats cheap.
My 20kwh lithium battery for solar costs almost rm11k at 2019.
BYD battery how many kwh?

well if u have too much money to burn, sure you can do it.

it would be cheaper, more efficient, and safer if just buy large LiFePO4 battery and hook it up over the solar and/or a charge controller for direct DC charging..

I dont get the point where u treat the EV like a battery for what?
