People here doesnt seem to know how little power you use in a home relative to a running car. To say thats its going to use and drain your cycle life is unfounded (might as well not use your car then)

EV rejuvenating back to the grid is an excellent idea except Tesla doesnt buy that idea because it will cannibalize their Powerwall sales

There is already a lot of effort to convert used ev batteries to become in house home battery

Depends lar. LFP battery average shelf life around 3000-3500 full cycles.

If single cycle = 400km. 400 X 3000 = 1,200,000 kilometer max shelf life before it started giving problems and needed to change new ones.

Like I mentioned. I thought of this as well.


1. Is your battery going to be on and off the premise during the day while solar power is charging? Say you have multiple cars and or motorbikes and you have the ability to manage your cars on site time. Which honestly does not work logistically.

2. If you have multiple cars that can be charged and than used, charge and used... Like a fleet. Probably can work.

3. Go watch Matt Ferrell's undecided on his take of Solar power. Got a few video discussing how the Solar grid tied system works. And it applies to battery solar grid tied system too.

4. Once you able to wrap the requirement of TNB grid orffering 60HZ, 230V. Than you can think of a inverter that is smart enough to be grid tied and also hybrid battery.

Btw: NEM requires that if TNB is down, that all back flow of electricity from Solar Nem to also shut down completely, as a safety feature to not electrocute OUR TNB technician doing repairs.

I do not work for tnb... But they are our Technician. Pls be kind to TNB technician.

Since your home already have solar panel installed , why not just upgrade the system to store any excess energy generated for the day?

Calculate the maximum energy your solar panel able to generate and buy enough battery according to maximum generated energy

This is more safe , easy and cost effective to maintain then buying EV car as an energy storage

ig you plan on doing this get EV that uses LFP battery, those can tahan alot of cycles compared to NMC, like 4-8 times more

BYD V2L only can output 2.3kW. not enough to power the whole house, you need V2H for that.

Hyundai can do 3.3kW, MG the highest rate can do 6kW from its V2L
