Proton brand has legacy baggage. Don't think it can hold up EV image in market with new players and no ice baggage. Better off with Geometry brand than rebadge to Proton.

the keyword here is too open and many question marks are raised. affordable cz need to put it cheaper hence putting lower tech battery/ lesser range distance to compensate for the price? Or best just take the existing proven, finished product China EV or other EV and make some slight improvement for our market demand, better interior, etc.

NINGBO (China), April 24 — Zeekr, a luxury electric vehicle (EV) brand under the Geely group, is mulling over entering Malaysia’s automotive market with its newly developed right-hand drive (RHD) vehicles.

Zhejiang Zeekr Intelligent Technology Co Ltd technology vice-president Zhao Chunlin said the global electric mobility technology brand aims to sell the RHD vehicles together with the left-hand drive vehicles to at least 50 international markets by year-end.

The brand is currently present in over 20 foreign markets, with plans to expand to Malaysia, Thailand, New Zealand and Australia, among others, he said to reporters during a site visit to Zeekr’s factory in Ningbo here today.


Zeekr is actively pursuing opportunities, including expanding into international markets — a move which could potentially benefit Malaysia in light of the partnership between Geely and Proton Holdings Bhd.

Geely Holding currently owns a 49.9 per cent stake in Proton.

The Zeekr Intelligent Factory, located in Ningbo, utilises advanced technology and innovative processes to guarantee superior product quality by prioritising transparency, efficiency, and sustainability throughout its operations.


Zeekr aims to double its delivery in 2024 to 230,000 cars from 118,685 cars in 2023.

Last month, the automaker initiated pre-orders for the RHD Zeekr X urban SUV and Zeekr 009 MPV vehicles in Thailand.

This decision was made in response to the growing demand for high-quality smart EVs in the Southeast Asian region.

Zeekr utilises Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) and includes its own battery technologies, battery management systems, electric motor technologies and electric vehicle supply chain. — Bernama

So far the poll does show desire for both proton or perodua affordable EV....albeit to very varying degree, 20% of survey said waiting for Proton while less than 7% is waiting for Perodua

Almost 40% don't want BEV and almost 40% also willing to b to pay more when buying BEV beyond affordable pricing of P1 and P2
The encouraging note from the survey is more than 60% considering BEV

x90 sales lack vs CX8 tell everything, this car model is failed big time. Thanks to fire accident last time, keep using 1.5T 3 cylinder engine + mild hybrid (taboo name for normal buyer) for the sake of getting 300nm and rival Tiggo 8 with better bang for money. If they need 300nm should use 1.8T engine instead

The reluctant to buy BEV percentage has dropped from 40% to 30% only

The spare part issues was so yesterday, which happened during MCO time. Now solve already. If warranty part claim is 2-3 week waiting similar to Honda Malaysia.

The X series been years already, sure wow factor no more. Need facelift asap with meet customer features demand, AA and ACP. All China brand no issues giving that while Proton still slow with Acotech junk company
