QUOTE(keong_boy @ Apr 4 2024, 03:48 PM) Not too sure, but if claim inheritance i think 'will' quite powerful, even more than marriage cert. I think the court will layan the 'will' > marriage cert. Lawyers will suggests you to do it, but not sure it's just because they want cari makan. But they say if no will, other parties such as children and parents have a percentage of what the decease leaves behind, if they choose to dispute, if no dispute then no issue. EPF act 1991 > Will > marriage certBut, maybe, for kwsp/perkeso/insurance, cert > will. Kwsp has nomination, but perkeso, the checklist is marriage cert to be entitled for it's benefits, as it's for "spouse and children". Not sure if a will can replace a cert in this case. |

De facto relationships are given the same weightage in countries such as Australia and New Zealand, and similarly in Singapore - although not equivalent to marriage, the Women's Charter ensures that the woman will not be any worse off should a de facto relationship sours.

QUOTE(Ericz @ Apr 4 2024, 02:50 PM) Hi all, I did not dig too much before posting. It's called a de facto relationshipIs anyone here in a committed relationship but not legally married in the country, and with no plans to do so, or close to anyone in this kind of relationship? (not sure if there is a term for that) |

QUOTE(kesvani @ Jun 18 2024, 11:43 PM) if you dont have a legal marriage cert, most likely the child will follow the citizenship of the mother, not sure the latest rules [malaysian father] are in place or notQUOTE(hksgmy @ Jun 19 2024, 07:14 AM) If you (assuming you’re Malaysian male) put your name on the birth certificate for the child, the child can be a Malaysian citizen yes. not really, without a legal marriage cert, the child follows the mother's [foreigner] citizenship, BUT, there new laws that states that child can be malaysian is father is malaysian |

QUOTE(hksgmy @ Jun 30 2024, 10:50 AM) Amanah Raya? That’s like a public trustee, isn’t it? I thought you were going to get your sister to administer your will? Amanah Raya might take sometimes. For now nominees will be my sister until i figure out the allocation for them. Also i will inform my sister about my will with Amanah Raya to prevent dispute. As we never know future what will happen. What if we both gone together |
