Would like to check, for people who have new UC6 tyres on the vehicle, is there a humming sound from the tyres when the vehicle is traveling between speeds say 20 to 100 km/h? The sound is like "woong woong" low rumbling sound like an aeroplane sound.

No. UC6 stock tyres for Nissan Almera.

Better check with nearby mechanic shop, could be uneven tyre surface or something else

I recently did alignment and balancing and only to find out one of my GITI tyre has an uneven tyre surface that could lead to strange noise. According to the mechanic, they claimed is I didn’t rotate my tyre which I find it odd. Anyway he said it won’t affect the handling nor performance of the driving experience

Thanks for the information. That's one possibility. I"ll get it checked at the service centre instead since the tyres are stock tyres of a new car and not fixed at outside tyre shop.

Wooong wooong sound most likely wheel bearing problem. Not tyre problem. Even with uneven wear tyres, it wont wooong woooongg ...

If you can repeat the humming sound to Nissan service technician during the test drive, then claim them to fix it whether its bearing or tyres...

But I scare Tan Chong tactics is leave your car here for 2 week for our technician to check the problem.

Already brought the car to the service centre during the 1st service and they claimed the sound is normal. I'm going to escalate the case, not sure if it's "normal" or not. I've been given several possibilities, some say tyres, some as wheel bearing, some say it's the engine sound, some say it's the air intake for turbo engine sound. It's confusing.

Nah, turbo wont wooong wooong sound. I had driven my continental csc5 for almost 10 years. During the final year, the tyre already wear unevenly in the center for all four. Still no wooong wooong sound. Just very loud road noise.

It is very easy to check wheel bearing. Just jack up the car and rotate the wheel (let go of the hand brake if rear wheel). It will feel different for the one with bad bearing.

Sound is normal with UC6, I also have Almera Turbo changed to Michelin XM2+ the humming noise no more. Tyre more quiet and stronger side wall.

Thanks for the responses. Looks like you guys got more experience than the mechanic and service advisor at the service centre, and also my sales advisor and the manager. Hahaha!

At least now it's down to either the UC6 tyres or wheel bearing, whichever one. I've called the TCEAS customer service just now and they will have the technical guy contact me soon. Hopefully will be resolved soon. If it's the wheel bearing, it will be resolved once it's replaced. If it's the tyres, it won't be resolved and will have to wait until the tyres are all due for replacement then only the sound will go away. I'm hoping it's the wheel bearing..

Your car still under warranty?

If still under warranty and they blame the tyres, ask them to claim warranty from Continental. If your tyres are worn evenly, then they should work as it should. If they kept blaming the tyres, tell them to suggest a Continental tyre dealer for you to drive there to have them check your tyres if it is the cause of the noise. Sometimes you need to be hard on them when they kept taichi especially when they said it is normal. Usually when they reply like this, it is not normal.

I got a company Sonata in 2012. The ac was bad from day one but the service centers kept saying it is normal. I drove it for few months until CNY and the heat got to me. I was so mad that I wrote an email to Hyundai Korea. Guess what... I got a surprise call from Hyundai service center and the fella (who told me it is normal BTW) binggung how I get the Sime Darby HQ to issue a compressor replacement for me. The ac work fine and I had a much better ac since until the car was sold mid last year suffering from a bad compressor.

Very likely a wheel bearing problem. My 3008 right front wheel bearing also made noise but I left it alone because it doesn't impact the driving.

Thanks guys. 5 years warranty, the car is just 2 months old.

The sound won't affect most people as they might not even notice about the sound being a "problem". The vehicle is driven by my dad. However, I am very sensitive to any abnormal or rattling sound so it does sound like problem to me. It's true it doesn't affect the driving experience. It's just the woong woong sound in the background that is a nuisance to me. It's not very loud but it's there.

Will get it sorted out soon. Thanks.

Not necessary if bearing just starting to have problem. My Accord right front bearing having similar sound, but when jack up, can't tell any difference.
Will wait longer before fixing it, since doesn't impact the drive or handling currently

Update. Brought the vehicle to the service centre again this morning for 2nd checkup and test-drove another same Almera vehicle. Confirmed that the wheel bearing is not the issue, so the possibility of the noise is now entirely focused on the Continental UC6 tyres. The weird thing is the other Almera vehicle on UC6 tyres also showed the same humming noise, so I'm not sure if the humming noise is inherent with the UC6, or it's just the design of the rims or something else that contributes to the humming noise since other vehicles(Honda, Toyota etc.) on UC6 may not show this noise issue.

The current arrangement is the tyre manufacturer will inspect my vehicle to determine if the UC6 tyres are causing the humming noise.
