QUOTE(prdkancil @ Feb 20 2024, 09:51 AM) advantage in term of comfort and handling dont think so , it still depend on whole car overall setup . My zc32s rear torsion beam better comfort and handling still better then those rear multilink setup . not sure what's your point. it was universally known that multilink is much better than a torsion but that doesnt mean torsion cannot be engineered to give good handling and comfort although comparatively a multilink setup would still be better. sure later you will bring out how peugeot use their torsion beam car to go rally bla bla bla but that wasn't my point.

The title fail. Lorry does not have torsion beam version at all. All are live axle.

QUOTE(prdkancil @ Feb 20 2024, 09:46 AM) Prefer rear torsion beam setup , multilink wait till ur car got weird suspension noise then u need troubleshoot each multilink component 1 by 1 i'm using a 11 year old jetta with multilink, all ok only. absorber will give the noise, just change absorber only settle. multilink is the best, but it's expensive and drives up the cost of the car. doesn't mean torsion beam is not good, just comparatively speaking, multilink still has the edge in terms of comfort and handling but normal people will not be so bothered about it. Torsion is still good enough and does a very decent job. But to me, it matters. This post has been edited by abhipraaya: Feb 20 2024, 11:03 AM

Both multilink and torsion beam also good suspensions.
Torsion Beam is cheaper and simpler setup for the manufacturer = more PROFITS for the manufacturer! $$$
Multilink is more expensive, complicated setup, takes more space. Nowadays, this premium setup are only found in bigger cars or higher variant cars.

Torsion beams while cheaper for the manufacturer and average road user, but PITA to dismantled. Nearly the whole thing need to be dismantled and it is a very large set of things.
Normal average driver (like 95% of population) does not give a fucuk or rather does not even know whats a torsion beam.
And with the improvement and developement on car chasis in year 2023A, damn thing is working quite well, comfort and motorsport friendly. If buy big brand Conti with torsion beam you wont even know it is.
See all sub 1.5 racing series in our local motorsport scene, especially mybi cup, Jazz Cup , SAGA Megavalve, Vios cup car. Its not easy to drive those thing to the max.
Due to torsion beam sharing road surface info on both side, they love smooth road surface extremely much. If u langgar gigantic dinosauric size hole at Jalan Pasir Gudang, force transfer will make sure the other side of the wheel feel it. Only the very power terpaling motorsport fighter can tame torsion beam, SAGA Cup car Sepang lap record is 2.44 and it is very difficult to reach that time.
Renault Megane RS Trophy Edition is also torsion beam if not wrong, they broke lap record at Nurburgring.
Average driver will not be able to tekan kona until feel the really knife edge difference on the open road.

Care to enlighten? torsion beam is very common on A/B segments as well as MPVs (yeah even alphard/vellfire use torsion beam) corolla cross, torsion beam some conti lower end version, torsion beam (despite platform is capable of both torsion and multilink) lorry or pickup truck, they usually not torsion beam but they use leaf spring/live axel or 4-link live axels PS: proton some of them use multilink like X70, X90 and previously preve/suprima This post has been edited by MyProLife: Feb 20 2024, 01:32 PM
