For reasons why many international brands e.g carrefour, tesco, makro, esso, mobil, bp, etc exited the country.

We learn that in a free market economy Government should not be in business.
However, in Malaysia government linked entity engage in all sort of businesses that might put off some companies from investing. Just a point to ponder..

Sebab jiken murah

One of the reason is bcos we do not need to keep stock at home. We have a lot malls and grocery store.

Those stay at service apartments might not even need a fridge. Anytime can walk down and buy fresh.

The items they sell in Costco are mostly in bulk volume and large portions. Cheap in USD rates but if arrive in Malaysia due to low value MYR expect to spend hundred or thousands..

The other competitive wholesale store is Sam's Club.

The power of 4.5X buying power with USD.

Been to Costco Melbourne once.

Goods are very bulky, large and discounted but not my type of shopping as I am a single person.

Great for American with big families that needs a lot of home supply for a certain period of time.

I wanna see Aldi, Walmart, Amazon in Msia.

I am a single person so my spend per trip in supermarket is normally <RM5, very seldom over RM10.

Costco is great for big families that needs a lot of supply.

Aldi sells decent quality aka less mainstream brands with decent quality and prices. Their only weakness is that they are less common with limited branches.

Kinda like 2co / eco

Obviously cannot compare. Because their local products does not exists here and vice versa. You are not going to find TIDE detergent here just as they cannot find TROJAN detergent there.

The idea is still bulk purchase through loyalty program.
