Specifically for Lenovo X1 Carbon 7th Gen 2019 model
I love this laptop though the rams and everything are soldered. Still performs well under basic use on the go
BUT the CPU gets veeeeeeeeeery hot in between 80-95c for no reason i need a good thermal paste that i can buy easily and last at least 2 years with no issue

Thermal paste wont solve your problem unless old one really dried out. You can either add thermal pad mod if your chassis is metal but prepare to feel very hot on the bottom, which you can use laptop fan cooler. All this won't make big difference. If you don't need performance can tweak the power settings to not use max performance when plugged.

Try Noctua NT-H2. Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut also can.

If want a daily usage just get Thermalright TF7/8. TG stuff are mainly for extreme OCing and overhyped for normal use plus it doesnt do so well over time TF7 beat the pants out of both TG stuff after curing process.

ppl said non-runny or somewhat thick thermal paste works best on direct-die (most laptop). or even honeywell thermal pads.
i personally have used NTH1 & MX-5 on my laptop but i dont see any difference in temperature compared to stock thermal paste (dell).
just pick any good and cheap thermal paste will do the job. some differences are probably within margin of error.

Eh, how come nobody recommend Artic Cooler MX-4/MX-6? Or is it not suitable for laptop?

QUOTE(Duckies @ Jan 10 2024, 09:31 AM) Eh, how come nobody recommend Artic Cooler MX-4/MX-6? Or is it not suitable for laptop? Many much better options exist out there these days, especially for laptops, pastes like MX4 and thermal grizzly kryonaut are not really suitable for laptop use Personally I still recommend honeywell ptm7950 for laptops

For best thermal performance, I would suggest just bring back to service center request them to apply liquid metal. Else, use high-performance thermal paste like Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Others way to reduce your laptop temperature refer to this l https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...ost&p=104980838
