My father is at hospital now. Don’t think can make it these few days
Hence start to prepare for the funeral.
Already got a burial ground back in hometown. It’s a shared lot with my grandparents and uncles.

Just a matter to go through the rites and bring back to hometown.
Plan to have the funeral service in KL before, cremate and bring back the ashes to hometown

How to kickstart the whole thing? Either Taoist or Buddhist rite. Likely Taoist.

The funeral shop will approach the family?

Hi. Sorry to hear this. If your father can speak, best to ask him first on what he wants. Especially burial or cremation.
Next is whether you are Hokkien, Teochew, Hakka, Cantonese, etc. As some elders may want to insist on following certain customs. Clarify first, don't follow blindly.
One member pointed at ktc, a good recommendation, also one of the cheaper one. There are others like Jing An Memorial Village, etc. They can recommend undertakers (coffin and funeral arrangements).

Not necessarily la, there are cheap package and there are giler babi packages

Dont limit urself to nirvana , there are plenty of other funeral parlors who offered the same and simplified services at much lower price

u best find funeral parlour on your own...they have packages like set menu u see in restaurant
and the plot of land that u want to be buried on...own private land or owned by funeral parlour?

nowadays, the funeral parlour such as nirvana should be able to handle everything for you.

else, contact the place where you bought the burial ground. they should be able to assist as well.

hometown burial...avoid nirvana, engage local funeral parlour....it can be done cheap

the question is, where u wan to held it? here in KV or back in hometown.

if hometown kecil, then might not have one stop centre like nirvana.
where u dont need to held funeral at your house, block jalan etc.
those centre got aircond, parking, toilet, room etc etc.
which is my preferred choice, no need bother neighbours.

downside is might be slightly expensive than doing at home.
as in nirvana home vs nirvana centre.
u get to save mayb a few K at the expense of comfort.

if u have budget, get those nirvana like services at their building.
of course nirvana is the premium one. got those cheaper one, saving a few K.

u can plan now, but he havent move on yet.
once he moved on, at the morgue sure will have people offering you services.

Is your dad the eldest to your grandpa? If yes, follow his wish (have a word with him while posibble) if no, consult your eldest living uncle.

Okay, usually la.. the same day/night your kin pass away in hospital, hospital will need one from the family to complete a form with their info and contact number on it. They will also ask you to go to police station and make a report for the death to get a release paper that will enable you to collect your deceased one (the report for no need of post-mortem/autopsy if the death is natural and not crime related).

They bring the deceased to the morgue for temporary time till you get the release paper and police report. During that time you'll get a call from people who does funeral one (they must have gotten your number from the hospital, I guess they have connection with the hospital) asking if you need a service. From there on you can ask them anything about the procedure and they basically will handle EVERYTHING for you.

They are very efficient at the service and are quick to respond.

RM5999 for the whole funeral ceremony. (100 cup drinks , 100 有心 packs to give out, 3 days on the funeral parlour place for friends and family to go pay respect, the casket, cremation service and and ash urn included)

as for place to put the urn. We bought one place for RM5999 + RM380++ (paid one time only, no need to pay maintenance fee every year or month).

So all in all it's around RM12k.. well I didn't add in additional extra fee from me asking to add in another 100 有心 packs, another 100 cup drinks... the white t-shirts for the family... la..

The building is fully air conditioned, got elevator and very clean and tidy.. really nice place. A lot of my passed family are placed over there and they are nearby too so it's very convenient and worth it.

Think just last year when I attended my cousin's funeral. Was at Nirvana 3.

Funeral house will fight for your business. See which priest will charge you less. Cantonese priest charged less if you in KL as it is based on which states you stay in and what is your mother tongue. True stories.

when my grandma pass away last yr, the hospital got people let a funeral business know, i havent enter police station, they already arrive to promo their package. hospital cable strong

but it turns out rather good in the end, i think like 10-14k and somemore looks good, got waiter help serve food and drinks from morning to night at house
