At first the salesgirl (cute cheeky amoi) said all spec frame in the cabinet are rm180

With lens that can change colour + protect from blue light will add rm200 so total for the spec will be rm380

Then another lady (mature awek tudung) bring my wife to do eyecheck and do some consultation and suddenly introduce a lense that can relax the eyes and the price shoot up to rm1200!!

So i said its ok, no need that lense, just proceed with the rm380

Then suddenly if i like to proceed with that, need to wait for 1-2 weeks for them to order

WTH??

Is this a normal practice? Bcoz now i realise like previous eyewear shop kinda do the same shit

Most probably ts got astig or power outside normal range or the shop introduce transition lens to ts. You want to pay extra for those features nothing stopping you but it's not a scam

Selling blue lens is one of the common upscale tactics to earn more profit.

what rubbish 1 - 2 weeks.. like that they can close shop liao.. i went owndays to buy their frames cause i love them.. then i went to focus point / dr specs / a-look.. in less than a week i will get my spec installed with Zeiss lenses already.. same goes to Hoya, Kodak. These are the glasses i have experience with.

TS, for basic lens 2working days max already. They also ordered from lens maker one. Actually quite fast can get since most of the optometry can get within hours.

yes i have very bad experience with it.. the blue light + having different focal point for reading purpose is pure scam. Since my exp with Essilor i avoid the brand plus all these gimmick things they want to put into the glass.

When I was a teen and needed spectacles every 1-2 years.... "relaxing" should be the core/expected feature in all the spectacles made/purchased. It took few days to get used to and relax with a new pair. if still not relaxed after wearing them... then obviously they are made wrong.

Now they are peddling "relax" as a SPECIAL FEATURE to top up $$$ to get.

Previously since I'm working (that I bough spec myself), ayam always bought the fancy feature that total up the cost to be around RM1k per spec.

I thought that is the normal price (that i'm paying for nice2 feature etc). Then I just found out 3 years ago (when company give eyewear coverage for rm200 per year), that there is a normal spec with good enuf feature and frame for less than RM200.

Felt kena scammed for all those 10 years that ayam doing spec for RM1k each. The RM200 spec is great enuf for me that I dont feel any downgrade whatsoever...

Lenses ready stock in shop depends on the lenses brand, feature n power lor, if they don't have that specific feature or power lenses, they will need to order it from their supplier, which might take few days or a week......2 week too long dy

I got mine done at Sg Wang. The frame plus lens is below 100 bucks and if the power if below 300, no extra charges. If above, need to top up 200 bucks. All in, I need to top up and all comes to a total of 380 and 45 mins wait. Go makan at Damascus and after a great lamb meals, collected the glasses.

If standard lense + frame, RM2k expensive. Should be few hundred RM only. Maybe TS wife has astig + making high index lense

My multifocal, Essilor, high index with astig some more was RM1.3k. Mid range price, made after COVID 2nd lockdown

The 3rd & 4th lense in the list (best & 2nd best) are above RM1.5k.
Oh yeah, within 1 week can get liao. If normal lense, 2 to 3 days

basic lens normally is their own house brand, which is chipalak and normally can done in few hour (if has stock on hands, which normally will, unless they only have booth)

Branded lens (Hoya, Essilor), yes, you need to wait them to order which take 1-2 week. Price is expensive and easy shoot up more than RM1000 if your power is high, and getting branded frame.

FYI, my specs cost RM1800++, Hoya Lens, Branded Sport Frame RM500++.

If the frame is not branded, not worth to pay for more than RM100, the cost of non-branded frame is less than RM5.

Another Transition lenses(glass turns darker at Sun) is rm700 with rm300 big frame oakley lookalike. Few days siap.

Backup Cheapo spec with no function under rm400 from mall chain store optic shop same day can siap.

Basically its all depends on your budget and what function u need it for.

A basic lense only with different quality is what makes the difference. For 1200 can go for HD Nikon lense Siap with balance for cny goodies. LEL

Scratch resistance quality and lasting longer than most basic ones.

Basic 1-3 years.

Nikon or leica can last 3-5 years with top clear lenses.

Not sure if you’ve seen. Some lense will become flaky and peel off or tiny scratches built up over time. Some even worse - clear lense turns yellow.

Those turn yellow are the lowest quality grade of cheapo that shouldn’t even be sold in the first place. They cost less than 10 for below 500 degree and being sold for 20-30 fold their price. If u ever buy one that turns yellowish after a year, avoid that shop.
