So last nite i bring my wife to change her spec

At first the salesgirl (cute cheeky amoi) said all spec frame in the cabinet are rm180

With lens that can change colour + protect from blue light will add rm200 so total for the spec will be rm380

Then another lady (mature awek tudung) bring my wife to do eyecheck and do some consultation and suddenly introduce a lense that can relax the eyes and the price shoot up to rm1200!!    

So i said its ok, no need that lense, just proceed with the rm380

Then suddenly if i like to proceed with that, need to wait for 1-2 weeks for them to order

WTH??   

Is this a normal practice? Bcoz now i realise like previous eyewear shop kinda do the same shit

what other business got wide margin?

Just go to Thoneh if you are around KL. I dont trust optometrist already.
Last time I went to one cause got free check, turns out my right eye power is 150 or something that i need glasses.
Next day went to Thoneh cause paranoid and want 2nd opinion. There they say my eyes power on 75 or something, basically its too low to start using glasses.

I hate the blue lens it make the glass yellowish. aren't many of you here recommended Sg. Wang is the place to go now for glasses?
how they earn with frame so many buying it online while glasses you still have no choice but to go to shop?

yes i have very bad experience with it.. the blue light + having different focal point for reading purpose is pure scam. Since my exp with Essilor i avoid the brand plus all these gimmick things they want to put into the glass.

My only glass go to Zeiss drive safe period.

luckily uncle cheapskate never took special lens b4. it's quite pricey imo.

When I was a teen and needed spectacles every 1-2 years.... "relaxing" should be the core/expected feature in all the spectacles made/purchased. It took few days to get used to and relax with a new pair.  if still not relaxed after wearing them... then obviously they are made wrong.

Now they are peddling "relax"  as a SPECIAL FEATURE to top up $$$  to get.

Those turn yellow are the lowest quality grade of cheapo that shouldn’t even be sold in the first place. They cost less than 10 for below 500 degree and being sold for 20-30 fold their price. If u ever buy one that turns yellowish after a year, avoid that shop.

Ayam order from optometrist je thinnest one cause ayam use thick thick glasses.

Then ada kazen open shop sell so order from them.

U self ordered who gonna tailor it for u into the frames etc. ask them do one pair gonna cost u 150. Why double work and cost.

I'm really curious how much a spec actually cost. from zaman dulu-dulu they already said that spectacles shop mark up a LOT is a very profitable business. how much a lot is that be?

what rubbish 1 - 2 weeks.. like that they can close shop liao.. i went owndays to buy their frames cause i love them.. then i went to focus point / dr specs / a-look.. in less than a week i will get my spec installed with Zeiss lenses already.. same goes to Hoya, Kodak. These are the glasses i have experience with.

Branded lense like [B]Hoya or Zeiss memang near to 1k on cost. My friend open specs shop very transparent with me and how much profit he taking from my order punya. [/B]Too bad his shop bankrupt during covid. Now I go MOG do they do mark up 200-300 for the lense. But once you used to the atas lenses. You can’t go back edi. Eye get tired super fast when use cheapo lense.

Yes I can claim from company so my specs memang all near to rm2k 1 pair. No fucuk given.

Sales girls say need take few days within 3-4days since add-on the thinnest and anti blue light .
Then next day msg and said is ready for collection 

No wonder all drive bmw mercedez hghhhhhhh.

I got mine from this factory outlet shop nearby my house..frame capalang plus kodak lens with blue light lens = 400 je and can be done in 1-2 days

But my sis with super high power like 900-1000...need like 1.5k and above cause her lens need to be further thinned and need 5-7 days to be done

been going to same shop for years (more than 10 years).
power the same - even check every year

PIC got promoted, diff branch. lazy to go coz far.
think to change lens coz lens so dirty and scratch.
go to famous shop, say my power increase like 100 or so.
i was like, whoah. ok lor. die die ask me to change good lens.
i say no need, this one full frame and i use it for riding (excuses only)
just gib me plastic korea one. all in like 2++ ony kena.

then recently i got company benefits can spend on eyewear.
i go check, say my power reduce 25-50 from current power.
got myself an oakley with zeiss lens.. all in rm800 - foc.

before this my frame all tomford one -.-' mebe thats why kena ketuk?

Dulu dulu they are earning 10 times for each pair sold till there’s competitors coming in like owl hoot etc that sells 199 for a pair.

Even that they are making 5 times the cost for each pair sold unless those need to custom made to order.

Even then they cost 100-300 for each pair like those with ast power over 1000 and being sold around 800-1200

If the factory cost of spec are RM5 each i also tak hairan.
Lens? RM10-RM30 i also tak hairan.

Mr DIY latest revenue already 1B, net profit margin got 10% after all deduction
so i tak hairan they brought in cost around RM5
