Hi,

If we get the sim number transferred from corporate to personal number (post paid) and Celcom failed to provide bills for 5 months, due to system issue. Despite calling, complaining, can service provider claim for past months bills, which were shown earlier as zero ?

How can we dispute ? What are the laws in this case ?

If you used their service for past 5 months for free, there is nothing to dispute.

They cant charge you late fees or penalty … these can dispute if they do.

Celcom have the right to claim their dues even though they didn't bill you unless you are able to provide evidence that service was not rendered in the first place.
Do be prepared if suddenly you receive a letter/note from a debt collector asking for the 5 months dues. (Safeguard yourself from being blacklisted but this does not discount your responsibility to settle the dues) Advise to keep evidence that you did communicate to them regarding your bill but they were the one who failed to response/in err.

Thanks for your advice. Another issue is, the package selected was never known, and I just came to know, which is way higher than what I needed. I've complained to Celcom support and MCMC, but taking so long to respond. Any other avenues to seek redressal?

Choose from
1. Consumer Complaint Management Centre (CCMC).
2. Tribunal for consumer claim

Sure to gain traction but be ready to go through the process. Remember to build your case and substantiate this with evidence else this will backfire back to you.
All claims need to be supported with evidence.

(Not judging you) Probably you had problems gaining traction as you didn't build the case and supported it with good evidence. Learn from this. Ask someone who is familiar with legal stuff if you are not familiar. I knew someone who had to deal with Celcom for at least 6 months (back and forth with recurring problems) but the evidence given to Celcom was strong. (in B&W and multiple evidences given till Celcom ask the person not file more reports anymore)

Only you are aware of the situation on the ground, all the best.

Thanks very much for your insight and advice. Very helpful. I'll pursue Tribunal. I indeed want to follow-through.
