UDM Pro Max
A lot better compared to initially, have to give them credit for still working on PPPoE

The day TM switches to IPoE would be even better with the guaranteed performance jump whistling.gif

Also has anyone here tried to switch their TM account to their name from their parents? What’s the procedure like

And anyone here has internal news on whether TM will bring the Ally X to supersedes the Ally? whistling.gif Been eyeing for an Ally but the Ally X is a good upgrade over the Ally hmm.gif

What speeds are you getting on your unifi? When I sold my se last year it was because I couldn’t get more than 900 on it when the isp router could do 950

No, Ubiquiti is not willing to further optimize performance on PPPoE due to it being a dated protocol, their hardware is perfectly capable of it, people can pull up to 10GB on it but never via PPPoE afaik
I feel the same with it, I tried to get into it once but in the end just went with Ubiquiti since I needed the CCTV for my parents, or else I'm honestly down to learn Mikrotik considering the amount of control it gives to the end user
*
Yeah I’m switching back to ubiquiti too

Smart queues is enough to justify never reaching my 1gbps internet connection. And now with added censorship and hijacking, having multiple vpn connections active for different vlans and devices will be a godsend

But I’m downgrading from SE to cloud gateway max. Hopefully performance will be okay with my gigabit + sqm + ids idp

Where did you getting the UCG Max? Still waiting for it in SG store. I'm considering this or rb5009. But unbt network app is the main attraction for me to finally use unifi gateway and ap.

I'm going to australia next week and found a shop selling the uk version there haha.

can claim tax refund so why not, just 411 aud

Selling your UDM SE? biggrin.gif
*
i sold it few months back in a fit of rage when the isp modem gave higher speeds lol sorry bro. i still made money because the price increased here after i bought

Not wrong but that’s just how Ubiquiti do stuff sadly. Good hardware design but bogged down and tainted with semi ass software
From what I heard the UCG Max runs HOT (~70 deg) so you going to have to make sure you provide adequate cooling to it, performance is also half assed since it’s one of their brand new products off the line compared to like UDM
Yeah then Ubiquiti can do that, with how many client with the UCG Ultra unsure but it definitely can’t do 8 simultaneously like my UDM SE
*
that is true, but last time i only used 4 max. one was to uk to watch bbc iplayer. one network was usa for american netflix, then i had a singaporean one just for all the iot devices and cameras.

Is there some way to filter the devices using the VPN client by MAC address or something similar for your UDM SE?

Asus has the VPN Fusion feature for their TUF AX4200 that lets you decide which device goes through VPN.
*
yes unifi can filter mac address and even domain

i used to set my prawnhub domain to the uk vpn too because the blondes they recomemded better when it was that region lmaooooo

Do you have anything for maxis too? Give up trying to get 2.5 gbps port modem from them

Any UNIFI people having issues with Netflix and unencrypted dns since the dns hijack in September?

In September I had this Netflix tagging my home network as a vpn or proxy.

Kept coming back everyday, I needed to reset and change ip of home network for it to work.

I’m using maxis public ip fibre on tm infra with google dns

I noticed this issue started when the government did the force dns switch. After revert same issue kept persist.

I then set the deco to access point and put my asus as main router with encrypted nextdns dns.

3 months no issue and now I put back deco because asus was blocking google home devices and the issue has come back ??

I have no idea what is causing the issue, or if the nextdns tracker blocking prevented my ip from being tagged as vpn

Any advice would be great please

Yes, bill still isn't out for Feb that reflects the changes

Technician came today and upgraded to 2Gbps, gave 2x unit of Skyworth GN630V, his PC on TM Speedtest shows 2Gbps and around 910Mbps give or take for the speed

My unifi system can't do PPPoE well and Speedtest stresses the UDM SE so my PC only gets around 1.2-1.3Gbps DL and about about 900Mbps UL on TM Speedtest and Ooklas own about 700-800Mbps DL and about 900Mbps UL

Unifi's own built in Speedtest shows 2.1Gbps DL and 906Mbps UL

user posted image

Cloudflare shows around 1.2Gbps-1.3Gbps DL and 500-700Mbps UL on avg on the Skyworth itself doing PPPoE, using UDM SE PPPoE nets me less than 1Gbps DL most of the time

Inconsistency everywhere but only have my own equipment to blame, Unifi can't do PPPoE well, they like iPoE/DHCP more

the fact that the cheaper cloud gateways can now get full 2.5 pppoe and your more expensive one cant is mad.

you should ask on the forums when the software will come to yours too

I kinda gave up to get full speed on Unifi with PPPoE, I'll buy the EFG down the line to see what it can do with IDS/IPS, currently with IDS/IPS on it's only consistently going to 1.7-1.8Gbps max with the built in speedtest, rather lose some speed than security for the devices in my LAN
His PC while he's testing the speed after installation could get 2000Mbps+ DL on TM speedtest (Skyworth doing PPPoE), I never saw anything above 1.8Gbps with my own laptop (Ookla and/or TM Speedtest). Not sure what the issue is, can't be bothered to try and get more speed with Unifi's PPPoE situation (Bridged transparent with Skyworth).
*
I understand. But why not both. If they can do offloading on the cheaper ones it should not be an issue for the SE.

The clouds also came out with abysmal pppoe speeds

Just how they're programmed to be I guess, I haven't seen firmware improvements to PPPoE on their software releases in forever. Just gotta wait for newer hardware or TM somehow switches to use IPoE

hopefully soon for you too
