there is a bridge mode, but it is bugged and randomly your speed drops to 300mbps

if you still have your old modem, reuse it, max speed 940Mbps but it's worth it

otherwise, go the advanced route with a SFP ONT Module and any router with SFP Port

for youtube there was discussion that if you used an adblocker, the youtube would slow down if it detects that.

so initially i thought that was why youtube was slow.

but then it was brought to my attention about the dns hijack. so then i suspected that could have been the recent reason for the slow down. i don't have proof for this since i'm not a full blown expert, but that is my guess based on the timeline when things got worse when browsing.

issue went away after i use VPN.... guess that was further proof.

As someone that's running Unifi full stack for my network, it's like a drug to me personally, once I get one thing I want more, that might also applies to you

Considering you are quite technical from your conversation, Mikrotik might be your bread and butter, or even better, use OPNSense as your main and the rest just mix and match and DIY yourself 

Also from what I can gather, PPPoE on Ubiquiti is not as fast as maybe even the Archer C9, Unifi isn't that optimized to use PPPoE protocol and it's more suitable for using like iPoE, if you ever want to push more speed, that might also be a limiting factor. Currently my UDM SE can only pull around 850-870, max I've seen is 910-920 on my 1Gbps, but that might just be an OLT limitation on my side and might again DIFFER from you

Smart queues is enough to justify never reaching my 1gbps internet connection. And now with added censorship and hijacking, having multiple vpn connections active for different vlans and devices will be a godsend

But I’m downgrading from SE to cloud gateway max. Hopefully performance will be okay with my gigabit + sqm + ids idp

Do you mean you get SWU 300Mbps but you are getting 500Mbps on speedtest?

If your account is still showing 300 Mbps SWU, then just keep quiet and be steady.

TM use a combination of HQoS profile on both OLT and BNG to cap speed.
However I noticed any of them alone have problem with accurately capping the speed, which suggest their gear is undersized or lousy to begin with.

Most likely explanation is they forget to adjust your OLT profile from 800Mbps to 300Mbps

My house is 20x80. My wifi adapter is one with extendable antenna and i place it pretty high up and away from anything metallic or solid object. Sometimes, it can get to 80% but then drops to around 75 to 70% (estimates) but never below 65%.
