There was one Chinese prc kantoi got fake ic when trying to get a Malaysian passport because cannot speak malay. It was on the news.

Not speaking Malay shows where is your loyalty.

Whether TS is wrong or not for not knowing Malay is not an excuse for the officer/staff to be fierce

To get replacement passport in case of losing to theft or missing in the Malaysian Foreign Office is the standard questions regarding the country, understanding simple malay conversation etc...so its no harm in learning the lingua franca that is used extensively in the region.

learn malay helps you to deal with government servant easier, thats a potential income for some.
wasnt one of the most recent federal gomen that you need to write official letter in malay if you a local companies/individual.
