I thought they are allowing any debit cards now according to this poster. Sucks if they still opted for tokens

For the time being, TouchNGo Card is still the best.
You can use GX Mastercard to top up TNG Wallet App, then top up TNG NFC Card (with a NFC-enabled phone). Though no 1% savings. But cheaper fare with TNG Card

I wanted to avoid paying extra for the bank transaction fee when using credit/debit card.
So the plan is to withdraw cash from atm there.
The rate is much more better than getting it from money changer here
*
But there is a ATM charge by the ATM owner/operator.

hi all,

what I need to do if i wanna use GX card in Singapore? How was the rate?

is it recommended? or use credit card better? got 1% cashback?

sorry for all the questions as I lazy to queue to at money changer notworthy.gifΒ  notworthy.gif

Credit card charge 2.5% more or less on forex.
Use debit card forex charge is lower.

Use credit card only for convenience (eg hotel deposit) or if >2% cashback/reward.

I plan to change SGD 200 only cash. coz later got balance coins cannot convert back. troublesome.

If you have too much cash on hand, you will try to spend it before leaving the country, eg blind shopping at airport, buy drink at vending machine etc.

Paynet - belongs to BNM and a consortium of banks.

The cost of operations is peanuts in comparison to what Bakos rake in as profits.

They should do away with the rm 1 fee.

It’s extortionate
*
Should charge more to use ATM and reduce number of ATMs.
Otherwise people reluctant to use e-cash and debit card.

Now got 0.2% rebate for QRPay? I can't find this info though in their website.
*
0.2% not so attractive.
Credit card may give >0.2% to top up ShopeePay.

hi all, im going shanghai China soon.

dont plan to change much cash. Fully using GX bank card is it ok? or need to change more cash?

heard that Alipay and tng got charges / more expensive.

heard also visa and master credit card not user friendly there.

thank you
*
Most of the places don't accept Visa/Mastercard. They prefer Unionpay card / Unionpay QR / Alipay / WeChat Pay.

how to know if merchant is using Mydebit machine?
*
Most of the transactions should go through Mydebit for instant settlement.
Very rare a transaction will go through Mastercard for T+1/T+2 settlement.
Beyond your control, you won't know in advance.

Cant see from the name?

A Chinese name can be a bumi.
Eg in Sarawak, if the mother is Native (eg Iban, Bidayuh), the child is Native even though he/she has a Chinese name.
