Deal Will Cement Group's Position as Malaysia's Leading Automotive Player

Sime Darby Berhad (“Sime Darby”) today announced that it has entered into a conditional share purchase agreement (“SPA”) with Permodalan Nasional Berhad (“PNB”) to acquire PNB’s 61.2% stake in UMW Holdings Berhad (“UMW”),


a well-established conglomerate with a diverse portfolio of businesses including automotive, equipment, aerospace and manufacturing & engineering (M&E) segments.


Under the terms of the agreement, Sime Darby will purchase PNB’s 61.2% stake for a total cash consideration of

RM3.57 billion or RM5.00 per share.



When the agreement is finalized, Sime Darby plans to buy the remaining 38.8% of UMW's shares it doesn't own, with the goal of removing UMW from the stock market.

Er. This engine is use in XC40.

But will be more reliable than any new cars currently on sale

welcome to HM. use one time only, now banned them for life. HM use junk parts especially localize parts. Brake pad made in Thai make it juddering at high speed

There should be spare parts available; if not, the first Proton Volvo sedan may experience low sales.



Next year, I should attend the DRB-HICOM BHD AGM (online only) to ask the directors why there are no spare parts available for the Proton X70 and Proton X50.
