Interesting. I see... this is to condition so that the inverter matches the load... If load higher, take from TnB, if load lower, ask inverter to match.
I see so generally hybrid inverter comes with no export option.  So one can turn on their solar even without NEM meter installed yet. Thanks for sharing

Hybrid inverter have few options, can also export to grid.

generally speaking... most nem inverters are on-grid inverters

off-grid hybrid inverters cannot export to grid because they lack grid frequency synchronization feature

on-grid hybrid inverters should be configurable for off-grid use...then you can switch off tnb and power the house... but because you don't have batteries, you need to select the loads carefully, otherwise inverter will keep tripping...

micro inverters need the grid and cant do much without it...
*
Wrong, I was thinking like you too before my group educated me on this. Hybrid inverter can be off/on grid with or without battery. There is no such thing as off grid Hybrid inverter unless it's from alibaba or taobao because they uses the wrong phrase & got me confused as well. A good example is Growatt SPF 6000 ES Plus Home Off Grid 6kw but some sellers put it as Hybrid inverter which was wrong.

Cannot but can used grid power @night if not using battery/low on battery.

bro... i said "off-grid hybrid inverters cannot export to grid because they lack grid frequency synchronization feature"

of course i know it can import from grid... to charge battery or bypass and power load directly

Bro, there's no such thing as off grid hybrid inverter, I was like you start arguing with my kaki, end up realized I was wrong. brows.gif

Received 2 sets of new cells:

16 Batterotech 280ah
16 EVE LF280K v3 280ah (plus another 2 extra cells as spare)

Done installing these two sets in parallel during Gawai holiday.
So far, due to rainy and cloudy weather, I am unable to get those packs to reach 55.2V not even once.
My JKBMS integrated active balancers and external Neey/Enerkey 10A balancers don't even turned on at all.

It had been almost two weeks......
I have no idea on the SOC % now since it never reach the voltage that I consider the cell to be fully charged.
Awaiting another set:
16 EVE MB306 306ah
Will be using the extra two spare EVE LF280K cells to replace two problematic Sinopoly cells. Frankenstein time? Currently the problematic sinopoly cells are not connected into the parallel busbar circuit yet.
*
Do you know what grades are the EVE MB306 or
should it be MB30?

Has anyone converted from single-phase to 3-phase? Just checked with an electrician. I was told it's a messy job since the incoming wires can no longer be concealed. All the DBs have to update to 3-phase too.

find out warranty support/lead time for 12ktl vs 6ktl? i dunno about inverter failure, popularity and spare parts they keep... 2 units will obviously give you some backup...

inverter has max voltage hard limit... as long as not exceeded you can go higher kwp but it is then limited by mppt current... you asked about high current model, perhaps perhaps these have higher mppt current limit... also the closer you run inverter to its max power limit, the higher probability of failure imho because you are pushing all the components to its limit... so if you max max out everything, then a 2x 6ktl may be a better choice...

however our use of solar is not a critical service, so a single inverter is probably good enough...

Also can buy insurance to cover production down time due to inverter failure but how easy is it to claim is a big ?

Same, will have code 51 showing export, it cycles through few modes.

Hi all - Just sharing what I've shortlisted before pulling the trigger. Capacity is 10.xx kwP.
- Huawei string inverter: Vestech (Solarvest subsidiary), and De Solar
- Solplanet string inverter: Amsolar
- Hoymiles micro inverter: Pathgreen for its s-miles app access

My roof is flat, metal deck and no space constraint to fit panels for the capacity. Price and warranty wise they are all about the same (34-38k) but I'm trying to maximize their O&M packages.

For all the sifus out there, could you share your views on the above options, particularly in terms of long term solution, battery expansion and manceainten?
*
If need battery only 1 & 2. Since flat roof no worry about shading issues.

With micro you can also install battery later through AC coupled inverter. Im considering MI not because of shade issue but wanted to get the most out of each PV panel but slight concern on accessibility to roof for MI maintenance.
*
Too costly but if willing to pay no issue lo. Can always bring down the inverter to 1st floor balcony if you have a balcony brows.gif

Yes I read and got feedback about it too.
What if another option in mono but p-type?
*
N type now is much better than P, new tech & the price of bifacial & single glass is almost the same & definitely there will be some slight improvement on production. In fact one of my friend swear he got 10% more because his roof is a flat metaldeck with light color.

Hi Sifus,

How
does TNB calculate bills?

Eg:
1600kwh usage (assuming equal usage spread out over the whole day). Solar system generates 1000kwh. Meaning import is 600kwh.

Will TNB still imposed ICPT since overall usage is 1600kwh or we will avoid ICPT since net import is 600kwh?

From what i have read/heard so far, some say yes, some say no. Am confused.
*
TNB is smart, it calculates usage first then only deduct so will still kena ICPT+ tax. So many people doing some magic to keep their monthly usage below 600kWh or can also apply for GET brows.gif

Applied 2 Apr 24
Installed 7 June 24
Activated 26 June 24 PM

Average electric bill- RM300
Solar panel installed- 9 panels supposedly 5.45 kwp
Today first full day generation according to app- 26.2 kWh

Looking forward to receive the SEDA incentive RM4k  drool.gif

Yes, not bad for a 5kW inverter.

yes i know export for free... but at least can enjoy in the day time...

Check with you all, my installer said can apply tnb to change meter and Solaris after panel installation without inverter. Is that true? He said install panel first and inverter later because no stock. If this is just a workaround and not advisable by tnb I’m not doing it

If he can guarantee no problem ok la, pay him only after installed the inverter . brows.gif
