If you playing waiting game in PC tech, then you not going to buy anything. If you want to buy it, just buy. Ya new when you buy, old when you reach home. It just that fast. Hell I bought my card eventho GT is way cheaper and perform nearly as GTX. But did I care? Not much. Thats the nature of PC tech. Not like its going obsolete after a month. In fact my 7900GTX still play latest game at 1280x768 beautifully. I will stick to it actually if the card can do AA on U3 engine. So I say if you want to buy, buy it. You can sell it later if you want the next gen. A lot of ppl still interested in second hand card provided its still running good.

Err...... that's for people without high-end card la. I think my 8800 GTS 640mb is still considered a high-end? Except for crysis, all current games can still be played with smooth fps on my rig..... just thought of trying out the 8800GT but maybe wait for the 8800GTS..... smile.gif

hey,. just read reviews for OCed version of 8800gt, the temp on stock cooler is alarming! LOL...even at 100% full speed 40db stock fan, you can get around 80 degrees.

yeah...hopefully getting mine soon! LOL...wanna join me? haha...
i just hope at least nvidia release an updated version with heatpipes with extra Rm50 cost. yeah..in my dreams...they probably reserve that for the new GTS.

see the 3rd party cooler test on 8800gt i posted on the stress test thread. Here's the link for lazy ppl:

The 3rd party coolers are really drool.gif drool.gif .

Especially all that copper wub.gif

However, the stock cooler also comes with 3 heatpipes, don't they? Just that since it is a single-slot cooler, it's efficiency is not that good I guess....

Aaaahhhh, finally found the source where they state the cfm of the 8800GT's fan. It is from Tech ARP! See here : http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=467&pgno=5

The 8800GT's fan has a 11.83 CFM @ 51dB. However, they say that the fan was quiet even at full load??? hmm.gif

Asus New 8800GT
Nice cooler. I wonder whether the VRAM needs cooling or not. As you know, ram heatspreader doesn't help much in improving OCing for DDR2 ram modules.....

can i use this with pentium4 ? im planning on getting a 8800gt and 2 gigs ram for now before jumping into multi core. Should i get vista to play crysis ? or could it be played well on xp ? thanks smile.gif smile.gif

Why not? Just that your CPU will seriously bottleneck the 8800GT. However, since you're upgrading to multi-core later, you can still use the 8800GT for now. Alternatively, get a cheaper card that is suitable for your CPU while waiting for your multicore. By that time, prices of new GC would be cheaper too! smile.gif

Crysis is better played in XP. Just tweaked the configuration files to very high settings...... you can google this or look in the crysis thread in LYN.....

How come my 8800GTS 320MB OC2 is faster than my 8800GT? Will post OC result later.

Probably bottlenecked by your CPU....
