A warning has been issued about using Android USB-C chargers as apparently they can make iPhone 15 models overheat.
In an Android-specific USB-C cable, there is smaller gap between the single-row 9-pin and single-row 11-pin connectors, subsequently increasing the chances of overheating issues.

so if using Android-specific cable, it will fit tighter (since "less gap") inside Apple USB port? Won't that make it better for electrical current to flow? Why does it heat up?
It would make sense if they otherwise said it produced larger gap between contacts, producing sparks..

Its more towards using those xiaomi 120w charger instead of just the cables alone i assume

The reason EU force Apple into adopting standard Type-C is to reduce waste from having to buy different charger charger standard and different cable connectors anew with every phone.
I guess Tim and every engineer in Apple didn't listen PROPERLY.

Their higher ups did but the price to pay is high ( not just literally).... imagine alienating the cult /fanbase that were promised exclusivity for years. These cultist no longer have bragging rights about how unique each and every Apple component they owned .

Well, hoping EU bring them to Court and settle this once and for all. Force Apple to prove whether they really complied (and render the warning not to use Android cable and charger as hoax, so fine them), OR, they really did not adopt the standard and had reinvented the wheel again with another variation of charger and cable (which, fine them).
Smaller gap? Meaning apple purposely make a different usb c connector? There should be no android specific usb c cable since the cable can be used for laptop or other device which are not android kan?

Typical apple they will always find away to force people buy their overpriced shit

not necessarily. USB-C memang designed to be a loose spec connector. so people can keep adding to the spec without changing the cable.
for example thunderbolt and type c uses the same connector but still different.
then there's the confusing naming scheme that usb-if association fucked us over with. usb gen 1 gen 2 3.1 3.2 etc.
and then there's this.
this whole apple issue is like a "normal" type c cable vs an e-mark type c came.
this is the 4 pin version
5 pin version
[image too big] 24 pin one also got.
epal definitely dah ready to go to court and claim got so many types of usb c, this is our implementation knncb... and EU will lose

That 5 pin and 4 pin is related to what previously called USB2 and USB3, nothing to to do with overheat in charging but just the data speed.
For me, Apple is just not being honest in the issue. Probably it is just something that can be fixed with firmware upgrade.
China can get their phone charge really fast and Apple does not to be left behind but they probably has not master the way to do it and try to give excuse. When overhear, Apple throttle the power even down to 5W charging speed according to one article doing testing on it.
Now even got cable for charging only. Cannot use for data. If you use this cable, then phone cannot even manage charging speed because no signalling sent to phone. This cable safe for standard low power charger, I suppose. Otherwise will overheat and damage phone or battery.
Actually apples decision to support os upgrade for a few years extra is conjob eventhough android say suppork on avg 3 years niah as the amount of money u pour into an apple device is roughly 2 decent android phones with each incremental upgrade not usb 2.0
Aiya can afford new ifon... then whats the problem adding a bit more get the ori charger and cable... just not even 10% more of the ifon price... relax la peeps... ifags can afford it one... no need so heboh over it.
Most ppl forgot or don't realise back then apple purposely reverse the microphone and remote control contact for 3.5mm headphone jack. They look the same, but it isn't fully compatible with industry standard.

It is all about the whole system integration.. android fag mana paham..
system integrations is just corporate speak for locking sheeps into their ecosystem

you don't understand. apple usb c superior. can use for android phone. android usb c inferior. will burn ipong.
can I use my MacBook Air M1 USB-C charger provided by Apple to charge the iPhone 15 Pro?
also does the MBA M1 USB-C cable able to provide USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds up to 10 Gbit per second to iPhone 15 Pro?
No USB3. Apple USBC Charge cable all USB2 only. You'll need the USBC Thunderbolt cable for USB3. For laptops. Dunno how it interacts with the iPhone 15 Pro.

Apple is great with their marketing message, i doubt this is really true.
if it is true, those other brand also get battery fried long time ago.

sohai la Apple
Wont be surprise tomorrow Apple announce there is USB-D for their own spec

lol did they not admit they purposely slowing down older gen iphone? this isnt the first dishonesty. the only thing iSheep can do is to use money to cover their stupidity.
Isnt EU wanted to standardize all charging cable to prevent waste and reduce carbon footprint?
padahal the USBC standards used by other phones have always been flaunting the USBC standards in first place
look at this table and see how many variations of "USBC standard"
Whichever USB version is just the spec defined by USB.org like what is the max speed of data transfer and max current the cable can carry. How much is the charging current to the phone is controlled by the phone based on chipset and firmware put on the phone by manufacturer. The chipset will automatically control the max charge current used by the phone. It does not matter if the charger can go up to 100W and the phone can accept just 25W.
The USB-C is just a type of connector that can support high data and current rate.

I read that the new iPhone 15 the charger will charge to 80% by default said to extend battery life.
It's ok one lah. The ppl here maybe a bit too gullible. Sometimes I use Xiaomi 120w to charge my iPhone (USBC-Lightning) and MBA M1. Later I check how many amps.
how about the famous issue of burnt usbc charging port for ipad pro, alot repairer suspect the issue is cause by using non-apple charging adapter hahahahahah

Not surprising, no way they gonna let their users break out from the prison, i mean ecosystem. Otherwise, their charger sales will drop, lol, ifags are too good of cashcows to be let go of

Don't have to worry. If Apple does something wrong, USA class action suit for sure inkambing.

apple make their own usbc spec? aren't they suppose to follow the standard usbc spec
Fun facts, Apple is one of the original contributor in USB C design (heck it’s even inspired from Lightning).
Meanwhile those hundreds cainafon makers are the one which modify and came out with their own version of USB C.
USB PD2.0 allow max charging up to 100W back then, and it’s unrealistic to implement on small devices like phone. Meanwhile cainafon makers go and softmod USB A & USB C charger to take 120-150W of power, on a phone.
Its better to buy expensive chargers that will "detect" what max current the device can use. Those cheapo fast chargers are the ones that causes problems. Because it does not have these features.
I believe apple did not design the phone to have fast charge control circuitry inside the phone. But rather move it to the charge brick.
Waiting for people to try is apple type C fast charge charger is usable for android?

leh. means not buy the cheap type a to c cables lah. better buy the type c 60w above cable.

. Fake News to hoodwink Chinese iFags into buying over-priced Apple USB-C charger cables.? .......
A USB-C cable is not a dumb length of copper that you plug in. It is not the same as the cable from your light to your wall socket, and it's not even close.
In total, there are 24 possible pins on USB-C cables, with 12 on a side of the internal tongue inside the port, and ringing the inside of the cable-end to make it bi-directional. ... . USB-C standard = 12 pins on each row or side = total of 24 pins, ... NOT 9 or 11 pins on each row or side. .

kek what does U in USB stands for? "universal"
looks like crApple's definition of universal is slightly different, which is not surprising at all
i tell u what, this ip15 inside is made of 100% aluminium. They wrap it with Titanium LOLOLOLOL
Titanium replaces the stainless steel. If the whole thing titanium, it'll be heavy. And for the same strength, less material is used, that's why the ip15p is smaller than the ip14p.
. Not really because it's in Chinese tech news sites. .......
https://www.unilad.com/technology/news/appl...rce=lbusastatic - Apple stores warn people not to use Android USB-C chargers to stop new iPhone 15 overheating - Callum Jones - Published 19:09, 26 September 2023 BST | Last updated 19:09, 26 September 2023 BST ... An Apple store in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China, has warned iPhone 15 users about using USB-C cables that come bundled with Android devices or are specifically designed for that type of mobile device.
While those tech savvy may already know, the vast majority of us are certainly in the camp where we aren't even aware there are different types of USB-C cables.
In an Android-specific USB-C cable, there is smaller gap between the single-row 9-pin and single-row 11-pin connectors, subsequently increasing the chances of overheating issues.
The warning isn't just linked to this particular Chinese store though, with a recent report from Chinese portal CNMO saying multiple Apple-exclusive stores across the China have issued a similar warning. ....
However, as with any major technological transition, there have been some hiccups along the way. Recent reports from China, one of Apple’s largest markets, have highlighted concerns raised by certain official Apple Stores. These stores are advising customers against using “Android cables” to charge their new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro, citing worries about overheating during the charging process. .... .

yeah, only the base version is aluminum, mis read it at apple website, the pro version is titanium. But what i wanna say is Titanium titanium heat dissipation

Inside both are alu. Also non pro is using A16 not A17Pro. Yes, titanium is much worse than aluminium at heat dissipation. A17 Pro draws a lot of power and runs very hot. Macam 8 Gen 1 situation. Looks like the 3nm didn't improve anything. Suspect next iPhone will have VC cooling like Android. Very disappointed with this A17 Pro. Only good stuff are the new capabilities of the GPU and ML..

there say want to save earth... don't provide charger... now went and design a port that not compatible with android type c cable.. .who is wasting the resource.... damn

If maintain internal dimensions Yeah titanium is heavier
But to use titanium fully menas you can make area thinner and smaller without the loss of strength compared to aluminum

Then 1st time buyer change over from android how? Need to buy special apple one? All android charger cable boleh buang?

Should be OK. I don't have ip15p so can't say for sure. But I use the Xiaomi 12 Pro included 120w charger and its cable to charge my AppleTV remote. The device/cable/charger combo will negotiate max wattage. In this case, of course, it won't charge the remote at 120w. Also Xiaomi 120w is proprietary. SuperVooc I think they call it. I also use it to charge old Huawei Nova 4. Dunno how may watts here.
