QUOTE(rx330 @ Apr 9 2008, 04:19 PM) the 4100 also got issues never solve, u think th 6500 100% no problem? shit, i wanna get cheap 4100 but one thing no good abt tvix is the give up on the fw for preivous models very quickly Ya loh, I wrote to DVICO about the DVD .ISO playback issue and also the need of playback MKV with built-in subtitle in last Nov and was told that they are workig on it for new firmware expected in spring this year. It's now 5 months passed their last firmware update and am still waiting... You think they have given up of 4100 update already? If so, I don't think I will buy TVIX again. No choice, have to live with 4100 for sometime. Wife will kill me if I upgrade again.
I do use SRT, but have do use remote to adjust the timing at times. Really afraid of spoling the remote with this constant pressing of same remote key. My Astromax FF key not working now becuase always fast forward to skip commercials, and there is no immitation remote, have to get the original. This have to find sometime to learn how to fix the subtitle synchro issue.
Another issue I have is that those Bluy-ray files are in spearate files (those .ts files within the same movie) which TViX will have distracting pause before continuing to the next files. some free time to fix the timing issue. Anyway to joing those files into a single one?

QUOTE(rx330 @ Apr 10 2008, 01:45 PM) why .ts? 1080p ones ar? my subs, no issue one, all very accurate did u use the correct subs? or u use dvd subs for lburay? how u fast forward the subs ar? The .ts (actually it's got additional character, can't remember) is actaull the transport stream format for Blu-ray movie (the original disc), and it's in 1080p. The 4100 can actually play back the original Bluy-ray files (privided the protection is removed). I got the Casino Royale and T2 in my TViX box now. Some others in my PC not tranferred over becuase they are damn big files (total 30g to over 40g per movie). Yep, I mix diff. sub with differrent rips (.H264, mpg, DVix, etc) becuase it's not always that I can get the matched versions. The 4100 allows up and down chn keys to speed up or delay the subtitles. It's just that I may need to continuously doing it throughout the movie because I think it may be using absolute timing info in the sub file instead of relative timing (this is only my guess). Anyway, just got some tip from my friend to use the Vobsub to adjust the timing. Will try to find some time to do it, maybe tonight if I don't fell asleep. Actually I still got a number of movies to catch up to.. really not enough time leh.

Yes, this is in the 4100 specs :
Format :.avi, .wmv, .mpg, .iso .vob, .ifo, .mp4, .asf, .tp, .trp, .ts, .m2ts, .mov(H.264), mkv
and NO, can't play .evo (I got the Transformers HD-DVD version and it won't play).
Audio supported are :
MP3, WMA, AAC, Ogg, PCM, M4A, AC3,FLAC, WAV
For multi-channel, I can only get DD5.1, ex DTS, es (i think 6.1 discrete as well) through the digital out (coax and Toslink) to AVR. I don't think it has True-HD decode to PCM (like PS3), not sure also because my AVR doesn't have HDMI port to receive multi-chn PCM.
No menus at all for Blu-ray, it's just playing file by file (.m2ts) like I complained. So far it doesn't play well on the Blu-ray movies as I feel that it's being pushed its limits playing the .m2ts with tendency of stuttering. I mostly play MKV files now because of this issue, and of course it takes a LOT longer time to get the Blu-ray version vs. the MKV. BTW, Blue Planet Blu-ray is less than 20G, so it's more manageable. Another problem is not able to change the audio track, e.g. I got english audio in TViX but got Chinese audio in my notebook from the same file (Caisno Royale .m2ts files).
Still waiting for the update or hack for PS3 to support NTFS because the FAT32 format suppport of not more than 4GB file size is really usefless. I also don't have powerful PC to do video streaming to PS3 currrently..

Oh yes, you just reminded me to test the .m2ts file on the PS3. I wanted to do it earlier but got. It's reall pain in the back to make sure the file is less than 4GB and copy it to the FAT32 hd and has to be in the VIDEO directory and all such craps. I managed to use the MKV2VOB utility to convert and playback H.264 file on the PS3. It's still H.264 encoded but in VOB instead of MKV. So I think there is a hope that it can play .m2ts directly since it's palying back .m2ts file in BD anyway. Yes, the ripped BD files should have all the audio (including HD) in them. Actully I have managed to backup the original BD to a .iso BD image file, and managed to mount it as virtual BD drive in my noteback (got no real BD drive) and playback. So far I managed to playback the menus and preview but it went blank when play the actual movie. I believe this is because I have not removed the protection yet. Plan to do it with the Slysoft DVDFab-HD and try again. Also not easy to get the DVDFab-HD to "registered" as well. So you can see now, there are so many things I plan to do but got no time..

Lucky you . My wife does not agree to buy BD now because still got the DVD collection collecting dust.
How much is the HD for PS3? It's the notebook size, right? Isn't it very expensive for the large capacity type?
May need your help on this. How to transfer file thru LAN in ps3, is it easy?

Tested the .m2ts files on PS3 last night. It could only play mpeg2 content and showed unsupported data for the AVC content file (which could be played fine on 4100). Also tested the audio streams on 4100. Good news, the .m2ts file does contain the various audio streams, DD, DTS, 6ch LPCM (need to check again on the DD-HD and DTS-HD). I found the way to switch the audio track is by pressing the audio button on top (obvious but I thought it was meant for swicthing to audio files like mp3 files). Have you tried the audio out on HDMI port? Does it send multi-chn PCM? Wow, just read that PS3 will get the DTS-HD and MA decode firmware this month. Headache now, got to change AVR

Sorethroat, I had that problem with some .srt files as well. What I did was to open the .srt file with WORD and re-save the file in normal ascii format. You can see the original encoding format when you first open the .srt file with WORD. I think the file is encoded with the format which 4100 does not recognize but the PC does. QUOTE(rx330 @ May 5 2008, 01:26 PM) Thanks. Do you still have lip sync problem? Did you swicth to Auto NTSC/PAL/24Hz mode? I find that the lip-sync problem is more severe when playing back in 24p mode. Also it seems to have stutter every few minutes or so in 24p mode. Do you see it?

Got serious lip sync (audio faster than video) and stuttering issue with the Celine Dion concert .avi file (XVID 720p) after upgrading to 1.4.46 beta firmware on 4100. Verified the previous firmware version 1.3.15 played with no problem. Anyone else has this problem? How to report this to DVICO?

RX, I didn't rip it, downloaded one lor.. it's really rare to have .avi, the rest are mostly MKV, including the MIMI (haven't watched yet.) I also copied the file to PS3, but got supported file format error. However PS3 info can shows MPEG4 and resolution info on this file, except audio info is blank. Btw, can I know if PS3 can support .avi file and play DIVX/XVID natively (I thought it started in FW ver2.1 onwards, right?) I am using Pioneer old AVR, model 2011 or something (7.1 without HDMI). Still lookig for justification to upgrade

Managed to get RTM-HD channel and watched the Olympics in pristine HD (guess it's 1080i?). Unfortunately here are the issues I have on my 4100 (with 430 HD tuner added):
1. Only on HD channel, it is having rather frequent stuttering/jerking/pixelation blocks during the broadcast (not tolerable for comfort viewing). However the playback on the recorded stream has very minimum such problem (I can live with that). So my question now, is this due to i)not enough precessing power on 4100, ii)defective 430 HD tuner module, iii)Firmware needs update (my 4100 is having FW1.4.52), or iv)Due to defective 4100?
2. Aspect ratio on real time HD broadcast is not right. Pressing the Zoom button to change to Full mode solved the problem on HD channel, but it needs to be done every time the channel is switched (I remember rX330 brought out this issue before). However playback on recorded stream is always in correct AR automatically.
3. Aspect ratio real time STD broadcast is also not right. It's always stretched to 16:9. Toggling the Zoom button does not get it right. Changing aspect ratio mode on my projector also does not get it right. Again, playback on recordedd stream is alwya is the correct AR automatically.
So all sifu sekalian, any help or comment is very much appreciated!
