I have not update my 6500 firmware yet. Maybe will do it tomorrow and test it out. Anyone updated theirs?

you're not talking abt the official firmware on their own website, right?

i think its still recommended to install a HDD into the 6500a....or at least keep that little plastic thing in there.....there was an issue with the cooling fan not cooling properly because of the absence of the HDD

yes...everything needs to be gigabit devices....however cat5e cable is adequate....unless you have like more than 100m of it.

another thing to note.....to stream blu ray files.....dont even need gigabit network. 100mbps would be enough......i only realized this after buying the gbit wlan router.

hmmmm....i havent tried the HD audio part. so far those m2ts files I tried...and no HD audio available on those. i should try those with HD audio tracks......now have to rip/find one.

by the way..my 6500a set to 10/100Mbps and it is on a cat5e infrastructure (approx 36m) going via 2 gbit switches and 1 gbit router.

am not sure what you mean by "NAS plus the M-6500 connected directly to it"

i'd think that the NAS should be connected directly to a e.g. wireless router...then everything else (including the TVIX) can access this NAS.

unless you mean that the M6500a is a NAS itself....i dont think so, I am only able to use ftp btwn the M6500a (assuming you have a HDD inside) and the pc itself.

yes sir, that is what i meant.

though you'll probably get fastest and most reliable connection if you can physically connect your TVIX into the network as well. Am not sure if the wlan speed is good enough for HD streaming.

am i right to say the person is not really a friend of yours based on 2 things?

1. you're doubting him and asking this question here.

2. if he's really your friend.....that price seems to be almost 30% more than average market (30% might be under estimated).

From my sources.
they are going to focus on the 6600 (replacement of 6500a) and the 8000 series (replacement of m7000a)

"They announced their newest TViX M-6600 model will be based on the RTD1283 and is now scheduled around end of August, early September 2009 for release. Nothing exciting at first as it's yet another RealTek 1283 based and we already have low cost good options. Never the less, if DviCo manages to tune the chip properly, changes the unappealing default interface and properly builds the firmware upon release keeping the price below €179, who knows what might happen... We'll be one of the first again to review this product but it's too far from release to get excited. More excited are we about DViCo planning to release an update this week with several enhancements and has announced UPnP to be added by next week for the 6500 and 7000 models. "

oh, are you back here now? I tot you still like 5000-7000km away..  laugh.gif
actually that's also the same question I was wondering... it's only 349 in amazon US...

anyway this doubles as a PC as it's a atom 230 PC...  laugh.gif  so kill 2 birds with one stone..
not in KL right now.

nah...the pc will be a pc....nas should be separate unit.

good thing i got that nas right now, as the pc is dying. otherwise my tvix would be somewhat paralyzed.
