He's using extreme/full western. Federer uses semi western.

Federer's grip is between eastern and semi-western. It's right on the corner.

People may say it's an out-dated way to play (serve/volley), but it is still a very effective method. Besides, I think it's real fun too.

If you have a good serve, moving in is a good and quick way to end the point (assuming one has a good volley, of course), which you already know. Serve/volley forces your opponent to produce good returns. If it is weak or floppy, it's pretty much over. It can also demoralize your opponent and break their game down. Opponents may be forced to go for the lower percentage shots and miss.

I've experienced this breakdown myself against good serve/volley players.

Ya man, I'm definitely going to get me on... Made reservation for a 4 1/2 already. Haha! I'm definitely going to collect it, but have doubts I'll be able to use it well... I mean, it's crazy... It should be around 12.1 to 12.3 oz (unstrung), and that's crazy heavy. The Prostaff 6.0 is 12.1 oz. BUT, the PS6.0 is 11.5pts headlight, and the kPS is 6pts headlight! I guess it's definitely looking closer to how Pete liked to play his old racquets. So, this is probably really a racquet for Pete. He liked it head heavy and the new one definitely is. Even more than the kBlade Tour, and I already find that one too head heavy. The PS6.0 is heavier than the k6.1 tour, but feels light coz it's so headlight...

...anyway, swingweight generally determines whether a racquet suits a baseliner or serve-and-volleyer... please correct me if i am wrong, though... agassi* wannabes will choose a more head-heavy racquet while sampras* wannabes one with more mobility i.e. head-light... that's some (incorrect) generalisation, but you get the idea...

No, dude, Sampras likes head-heavy. Since the ProStaff 6.0 is very headlight, he stuck tons of lead tape on the head. The Wilson Hammer was originally developed for him, but he refused to use anything other than his St. Vincents. You can see that the new kProStaff for Sampras is more head-heavy than the k6.1 Tour AND even the kBlade Tour.
