QUOTE(mushigen @ Sep 22 2023, 04:53 PM) The replacement light, must we use back the same brand in order to fit the bracket? Not sure about this as I have only bought back the same product for replacement, figured it would be too much of a hassle and a waste of time to try and find from a 3rd party or OEM manufacturer that would fit the bracket - all for the purpose of saving a few ringgit My best guess would be yes as I noticed that there are grooves on the bracket and then 4 metal pins on the sides of the light housing which i supposed they are the right fit.

I see. The reason I asked about 3rd party replacement isn't just about saving money. Proprietary replacement is usually more difficult to source and product lifespan (EOL) may be shorter.

Another question is will downlight reliability reduce over time even without use?

Drop in down lights (bracketed) follow the hole size in inches. 4/6in are common. Got other sizes. This post has been edited by ceo684: Sep 23 2023, 02:18 PM

https://shopee.com.my/%F0%9F%87%B2%F0%9F%87...c9-e996818d1e96GU10 casing can fit it almost any GU10 bulbs, a separate compartment can be easily removed to replace the bulb without needing to take out the whole casing.

QUOTE(BL98 @ Sep 16 2023, 09:14 AM) Normal florescent tube is the best. Less glare, less led flicker, cheap tube replacement. Thats like the ugliest choice of lights, like absolute ugliest. Just stop using cheapo LEDs, then no more flicker problem.

Cheapo LED downlight RM5 (need at least 4 per room) (use 3-6 months will spoil randomly, then will flicker like crazy) Phillips LED downlight RM40 (4 per room) Normal florescent tube light RM6 (only need 1) The economics is clear. Most people only need cost efficient and pragmatic lighting solutions.

Proprietary replacement is usually more difficult to source and product lifespan (EOL) may be shorter. Valid concern but i doubt the cessation will be any time soon - have been using this light since before MCO and procuring them so far has been no issue and if you look at their retailers / manufacturer, it's located in Johor and they have an array of line ups which utilizes the same modular design. QUOTE(GoodMorningMY @ Sep 23 2023, 01:08 PM) maybe a good idea to buy 10% more for backup? Another question is will downlight reliability reduce over time even without use? If you store them properly, the components will not deteriorate without cause.
