mine run 2G RAM with no problem.....around 1 week already....
(Corsair DDR2 667Mhz) If use 1G RAM, u can get 384 - 512mb RAM as RAMDisk. But for mine, i get 512mb for RAMDisk + left 1.5G RAM usable....hehe! The Paging file i didn't enable it also.... _____________________________________________________ Haiya........use 0511 BIOS lo...can change to 630Mhz or 900Mhz if u want....Stable like 0401 also....Even the Fn keys were all function able... |

Virtual memory was UNABLE to change to other drive (except local drive)
you can found it with view all hidden file option selected. Even u change it, the directory still point back to the main directory. For Eee PC, u can change the paging file to 256 initial and 256 max. Or you can even disable it.... This post has been edited by splua333: Feb 19 2008, 01:23 AM |

Yes.....updates needed....but only update for 1st time and only that time.
Still can delete the backup file after update too. can delete all the file inside ""/windows/SoftwareDistribution/Download"" after updates is completed. |

1.im using 800x600 pixel resolution (with scroll up and down). because it didn't affect the visual quality. (use Asus Eee PC driver)
2.Paging file had disabled (because 2G RAM is huge!!!) _______________________________________________ Email Client: Mozila Thunderbird Web browser: Firefox Word/Excel : Microsoft Office + Open Office Portable PDF : Adobe Reader Video format: WMP11 + Real alternative + QT Lite + ffdshow (support all format d....when watch wide screen, change resolution to 800x480, enjoy full screen..) EeePC's disc is only with the Driver (XP and Vista), BIOS updater, and the recovery DVD to original pre-installed Linux (together with other windows driver)
To receive mail, you can consider on Mozila Thunderbird or MS outlook (get free if has PDA which bundled with PDA) To install XP to Eeepc, it is tooooooo easy to done it. Just follow the step from the Manual then everything goes right... |

But have to VLite it 1st since min requirement for HDD is 10G.After VLite it, install to Eee with disable the paging file, left 1.6G for Vista Ultimate. All driver supported in Vista. Wireless LAN driver can share with XP's. Aero cant works. Since only get 1.0 for graphics... ("ah hem" cant work on Vlited vista) |

QUOTE(huh? @ Apr 20 2008, 03:57 PM) jeromeccm = the bigger the paging file, the more space XP will use in the harddisk as if it was RAM.. Thank for the advice...The paging file is the area on the hard disk that Windows uses as if it were random access memory (RAM) This is sometimes known as "virtual memory." By default, Windows stores this file on the same partition as the Windows system files. You can increase the performance of Windows, and increase free space on the boot partition, by moving this file to a different partition. (taken from microsoft support website) i ve got an offer by a forummer... eee pc here i come!! huhuhu... splua333 = im sure if you post it in lelong or garage sale.. the eeepc is going to be sold in mere hours.. cause your price is among the lowest ive seen... 1k nett for a used eeepc is cheap dude...plus, there is someone in the garage sale that is looking for one for rm 1000.. give it a try.. http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f...0#entry16867761 |
