i install normal XP and take less then 1 G after the "tweak",free space 2.7G if not mistaken, but that was b4 installing other applications.

follow the instruction by Eee PC manual like splua333 mentioned should help.

may i ask is there any "CLEAR" different if i want to upgrade RAM for Eee,from 1G ram to 2G ram ? or from 512MB to 2G......i'm asking this for helping a friend to upgrade.

My own Eee oledi upgrade to 1G 667 ram and i'm happy with it,just wonder will it be better if upgrade to 2G ram? What's the market price for 1G & 2G ram? Any prefer brand?

Thanks in advance. biggrin.gif

Added on March 29, 2008, 2:04 pmAnother thing,just wonder have u guys installed Astray+ Beta3 from BASSAM?

It's great and can set any resolution u want with window start up rclxms.gif . At the moment i'm using 640 x 480 or 800 x 600(scaled) becos i found any resolution above that will cos video clips / screen saver become lagging...(i'm using DreamAquarium screen saver,it's BEST,hehehe tongue.gif

xeNOS,PM me the link for portable office 2003 if u dun mind, can't find it in "Portableapps" smile.gif

i installed "Open Office Portable" b4 but i found it cant read chinese character(if not mistaken,cant remember,or maybe it's Notepad ++ ?) tongue.gif Anyway,any BIG diiferent between Open Office Portable,Office 2003 Portable & Office 2003?

I installed full XP and left about 2.1G :

after following the tweak from Eee's manual, pagefile set to 200MB (didnt totally disable it cos still using 512 ram) and installed office 2003 full,Astray3b,Storm3Player(especially for playback *rmvb)....no Anti Virus installed.

One question here, what's the application u guys use to playback video clips? I try Media Player Classic Portable with "klcodec" installed but dun really like it cos it cant choose the left/right audio and no equalizer adjust,so i change to Storm 3 Player.Which version of "klcodec" u guys using, mind to share? (i mainly play *rmvb file)

Also,which AntiVirus u guys using?

Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

VLC and Mplayer can play RMVB with three additional files, which are plugins

Opsss,ok,it show about 40MB....is that BIG for Eee?

May i know what's additional files needed for KMplayer to playback RMVB?

QUOTE(vailance @ Apr 7 2008, 10:34 AM)
anyway, just asking , is it asus has labeling issue on their eeepc battery, my 4g with camerashould hav 5200mHA right, but the label there shows 4400mHA only? and how long do u guys takes to charge from 20% to 100% the battery? seems lik mine takes more than a hour
*
If not mistaken,i saw in previous page of this forum stated u can "test" ur battery with some applications which will show the "actual" capacity of the battery, sometimes juz labeling issue.Anyway,i remembered read somewhere saying the new batch of Eee with webcam come with only 4800mAh due to shotage of battery...

Not really test the actual time charging from 20% to 100% but it take about 2 - 3 hours for fully charge my Eee.

xeNOS,thanks for the R1.9 link,just in case i need it,hehehe biggrin.gif

vailance, read previous page on this thread and some forumer had the same issue like yours.1 hour battery life is really too short la,with 5200mAh can reach 2 hours + for normal surfing.

** May i know the new Eee PC(with webcam) come with sleeve? What laptop bag u guys using for the Eee ? I'm using Crumpler McBain (M)...

I suggest you install windows xp. it will be superb and you will be able to install anything. The original Linux OS doesnt allow you to install 3rd party softwares. that's why you get the error message.
*
Emm,my expereince with original Linux is it's faster and very frenly interface ( i miss "her" actually) tongue.gif .It can actually install 3rd party software as well, just not too many choices if compare to XP.However,if u are using the Eee for normal surfing, watch movies and some office works, the default Linux is more then enuf.

got a friend here using "Interenet Call " (phone to phone)and i think it almost like voipstunt. What u do is just key in the tel no of both party, then the 1st party's phone(house/mobile)will ring, then u take up the phone and wait for the 2nd party to answer.

It's good if u are out station.U just need to key in ur Hotel's phone number and ur house's phone number (as 1st party). Then ur family's member just pick up the phone and tell the operator ur room number....but of course u need to inform ur family's member 1st. smile.gif

The table of charges show it's free in some country and the rate is very cheap too.The good news is u can try any time with the FREE TRIAL,but with limited talk time iof course.

Just to share.
