Thanks for the reply. smile.gif

cos i saw the 4G Surf the material of its casing, totally different from the 4G with webcam. The 4G is smooth & shinning whereby the Surf a bit "kasar" and non-shining.Also,i found there's no sleeve case in 4G Surf 's box, only adaptor, battery, dvd and manual book.

Can anyone confirm?

in order to get scaled and non-scrolling 800x600 or 1024 x 768,u got 3 driver to choose (i dunno which driver the best, seems to me all driver works fine)

1)INTEL - contains a modified version of the Intel GMA driver for the EEE compatible with kkjj's EEEPC_UTILITY

2)ASUS - contains a modified version of the default Asus VGA driver for the EEE compatible with kkjj's EEEPC_UTILITY

more information on Driver #1 & #2 here :

http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=11242

3)http://themodshop.net/?cat=18

after installed the driver,i also use an utility called "Eee's Utility V1.2",more detail here :

http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=16993

With the driver and utility,u can scaled the 800x600 and 1024 x 768.The only thing which still not solve is everytime after u reboot the Eee,the resolution go back to 800 x 480.What u need to do is open up the Eee Utiliy 1.2,choose 800x480 then apply AND after that, choose 800x600(tick enable scaled) and APPLY again.

then u can get 800 x 600 non-scrolling and scaled.

FYI,I'm using Asus-mod driver with Eee-Utility V1.2 now. smile.gif

The EEE Utility is good but the res keeps goin back to 800x480 upon restart. after tinkering with the resolution thing for this whole day i finally found a nice app which keep the res even after restart. it's called Astray...it replaces the original Asus ACPI tray icon...the resolution would definitely stay even after restart. now i'm satisfied hehee thumbup.gif

Is this the Astray u mentioned?

Should be another good option, will try later, thanks ya smile.gif

@myqd:

yup, that's the link. happy trying thumbup.gif

also at first i used the original graphics driver which comes with the driver CD but downscaling cannot be done. When i used Lazertag's asus modded driver, it works.
here's the link:

Thanks for the information,i'm using LT's Asus Mod driver too biggrin.gif

Another thing is,i just found BASSAM,the "maker" of Astray just promise to post LATEST AsTray within 48 hours with better resolution (can't remember, hehe).Maybe i should wait for that tongue.gif

I don understand a word being posted here... too noob...

I'm considering to get one, But I don't know what to look for and the price... It seems hard to find the actual pricing for all things so I hope everyone can help me decide.

I want my Asus EEE to have:

4 or 8 GB space.
1 or 2 Gb ram.
A webcam.
Windows XP (The small version) <That one I think can manually install rite?)
Touchscreen... (If can... just found out...)<Also manual install...)

If can... Please list the pricing for me? I really in  need for a subnotebook that can do basic things like surf, IM, text editing, minor image editing, etc.  I really want Asus EEE because of the mobility.

Other questions i wanna ask is the weight, size I've seen before. Screen also. But the main question is how long is the battery life?

I hope all the EEE owners here can help me decide it and where to get one. Really like it.
*
I think u can oledi get Asus 4G(with/without webcam) in Malaysia now,8G not launching yet.Price should be arround RM1199-1299(w/o webcam) and RM1299-RM1499(w/webcam),depends on ur location,so far i think Lowyat is selling RM1299 for webcam one, refer to previous post lately.

About the weight and size, pls ask Uncle Google, weight i remembered should be <1kg with battery, screen 7" with 800 x 480 resolution, battery last about 3 hours for normal use.

Hope this helps. smile.gif

i think the best way is to get a DC-AC power invertor which u can use for other devices as well.

I tried but @ 640 x 480,the font looks not as nice as 800 x 600(scaled with Eee-Utility).Also,i found cant adjust the DPI setting at Properties>setting>Advance, maybe i miss a step?

Anyone here oledi try Astray 1.3,mind to share?

u can use my eeectl.ini file, copy n paste it into ur ini file n save. restat eeectl n u'll be able to see an extra option 'Low' which would enable ur eee to run at 500mhz.. i tried running at 405mhz oso.. but too slow liao ... tongue.gif so i think 500mhz is ok. temp is around 54-52
that's UNDERclock,not overclock liao,hehehe tongue.gif

What's the main advantage if running over 600mhz,apart from playing smoother games? Playing video also better kah?

tx bro !

ya dl liao.  the 1000 x 600 works best for me great ( i adjust fond size to extra large)!
*
Xenos,i found it depend on the theme u use too.I 'm using 900 x 540 and font size at "large",it looks great. However, with another different theme (VXP if not mistaken),i found the font is small even i change it to "extra large".

Another thing, how do u make the new res activate at window start up? How u put the shortcut in start up folder? (step by step please,i'm TOTALLY newbie, hehe) tongue.gif

thanks Xenos, will try it later smile.gif

prazole,900 x 540 on my Eee looks ok but need to change the font to "Extra Large" with customised theme.Anyway,i found 800 x 600 or 640 x 480 looks fine too.

Another thing,i found Video Playback and Screen Saver are not smooth and lagging if use 900 x 540,most probably becos of the celeron cpu... sad.gif
