QUOTE(colmi @ Aug 2 2023, 10:16 AM) All these stainless steel food grade is just self grading as there is no such official classification for food grade for stainless steel. The 316 is more expensive to produce than the 304 and it is less corrosive than the 304, which is already considered as food grade for beverage |

QUOTE(colmi @ Aug 2 2023, 10:03 AM) been using stainless steel bottle for the past few years.so far no health issues. the main problem is the cap is difficult to take off. sakit tangan to break-out the connection then you need to turn so many times to get the cap off. then need to turn so many times to put it back on. so much more inconvenient compared to plastic bottles but at least i can leave it in the car without worry. |

QUOTE(Natsukashii @ Aug 2 2023, 10:06 AM) I'm not expert but most of the reading I've done, it is said stainless steel is safer than plastic.. but most people still use plastic and that I know of, are still well.. so I still use plastic also, BPA free ones only. Stainless steel is definitely safer than plastic in any temperature condition. Even those plastic without BPA, which are now being replaced with BPS / BPF, those 2 compounds still have many similarities with BPA. Apart from that, the characteristic of plastic doesn't change, meaning it will continue to leach some plastic into the water at warmer temperature. Be aware that there are some stainless steel container that are actually aluminum, and those have plastic coating on the inside. So pouring warm/hot water inside will results in leaching of plastic content into the water. Natsukashii liked this post

QUOTE(colmi @ Aug 2 2023, 11:51 AM) I have no problems opening/closing mine. maybe yours is a better design. mine needs 3 full turns to unscrew.Just twist the cap and unscrew until it comes off. The cap is also made of metal but not sure whether it is stainless steel or not (see photo) my son's Mr DIY water bottle, just needs to press 1 button to open. |

Stainless steel container is arguably the safest container to keep drinkable liquid. Its chemically inert and very high melting temperature. Not porous means almost nothing sneaky going to hide inside.
Get one with silicone external coating to allow easy drinking. |
