Road Transport Department (RTD) to Cease Issuing Physical Road Tax Stickers Starting Today - Exemptions for Senior Citizens, Foreigners, and Company Vehicle Owners

Kuala Lumpur, August 1st - Following the announcement by the Ministry of Transport earlier this year in February to implement electronic road tax and driving licenses, the Road Transport Department (RTD) will no longer issue physical road tax stickers to private car owners and motorcyclists starting today.

According to a post shared by netizens on Facebook, private car owners and motorcyclists will now need to use the MyJPJ mobile application provided by the Road Transport Department to access their electronic road tax information starting from August 1st.

The post included an attached notice believed to be from one of the RTD branches.

As per the notice, vehicle owners can still visit RTD counters to renew their vehicle's road tax and check the updates through MyJPJ.

However, the notice mentioned that senior citizens, foreigners, and company vehicle owners from these three groups can still obtain physical road tax stickers when they renew their road tax at RTD counters.

Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook had announced in February of this year that the implementation of electronic road tax and driving licenses for private vehicles would eliminate the need for physical road tax stickers on vehicles.

Police ask got the app or not to show.

They should have plate recognition device to speed up the process.

Entah la...

Sometimes i think gomen move is purposed by some idiot.

They should have registered vehicle on database, the authority can scan their apps on their own device and know which car not paid road tax.

If it's not necessary to show the sticker, to have the app, etc., if jpj/polis can check the road tax status with their devices, why make exemptions for senior citizens etc.? This will just confuse people. Can't even implement something this simple properly, wtf?

Looks like they decide to fire more people, cut down on consumables like paper and inks. Someone must have calculated the savings they could get.

Anthony Loke already said no need to use the app, no need to stick the sticker, no need screenshots etc, the authorities can check with their own computer(pull the record from jpj database). They should just stop issuing the sticker altogether, and just tell people that police/jpj will use the registration number to check road tax status.
