QUOTE(fcuk90 @ Oct 21 2007, 03:23 PM) need to change to new motherboard to support the pci-e 2.0? Added on October 21, 2007, 3:25 pmsilverstone st56f 560w or acbel ipower enermax r.....i heard people say quality drop edi .m i right? I was told not to coolerM and Acbel because they really not reliable high RMA rate, power no stable. Those recommend me to go for good quality one like Antel, Enermax,Silverstone But i prefer Enermax, cause a lot of my frens are highly recommned that to me after they had use

The only advantage I see is the extra power. I wouldn't be pretty to have 4 cables plugging in to a video card.
Which of course this means it prepares a new platform for newer cards. It doesn't matter if it comes out before or after xmas, it will only be use when both motherboard and graphic card is ready.
The best performance is still to have as much of all texture and other stuff in the VRAM itself, not swapping it in and out, cause that will slows down the performance no matter how many X the bus can get. There will still be the physical distance and other limitations...

what really matters to me is the card manufacturer. hope that they will still produce pciex1.1 at large scale if not those(including me) who own pciex1.1 mobo will be at lost. look what happens to our agp friends, they pay more for the same card as us but with lower bandwith. i've changed my mobo with my gc 3 times already, first the agp 4x to agp 8x then to pciex now what? again hav to change ka? gimme a break...at least for few years...anyway, pciex 1.1 still can beautifully blow grunt's head what?

ok guys, this pci-e 2.0 stuff is only about the pci-e slot amirite? not kacau the cpu? 775, am2, etc.. i already got the cpu (q6600) and on a verge of buying mobo+gpu.. ack!! @karim_effendy, i bought x1950P agp for almost twice the price from its pci-e sibling!

No real advantage for now if u want to compare between PCI e 1.0 to AGP..

So only high ends board support the pcie 2.0 ? maybe the new 2.0 will be "standardized"early in 2008?

draw more power, more bandwidth.
Will this cause : 1) GC generate more heat 2) GC works harder
Thus Lifespan decrease.... Correct?

Correct? no with sufficient cooling system heat would not be a problem to the GC only to the world, ice cap and enviroment a well as increase in green house gasses

To allow for more flexibility with increase higher power output through the the pci-e 2.0 slots... does not mean all graphic cards will need the added power.. of more interest would large bandwith for the ability for terabit LAN/mutiple SAS raid/RAM drives

PCIe should provide 150 Watt power so typically midrange graphic card wont need external power like 8600GTS.
