The bank customer service must be overwhelmed by calls from uncles and aunties trying to find a way besides using SMS TACS/secure transaction OTPs which their phones were locked out.
Come Monday a long queue is expected at their branches for the token generators. If they run out of stock then what? GG...

Of course you can just like you would on a PC using the web browser to login. But here's the problem, with SMS TACs phased out the only way to receive the SECURE confirmation for your transaction is through the app.
How are you going to authorize the transaction and complete it when the app already blocked on your old Android phone refuses to even launch/open and you can't even update it? Bank branches only open on weekdays to apply for the token generators.
This is how I came across trying to pay my bills over the weekend. No way to complete the transaction.

Wise only requires Android 5. So Wise is not secure? Tried it on my super old Redmi. It's too slow. From Android 6 to 13. Based on this logic, China citizens must be mostly using Android 13 now.
Seriously what are transaction limits for then when customers specifically set them for different types of transactions? Also recently the implemented cooling off period for large transactions. If there's a limit already set for risky accounts with high amounts of money, combined with a cooling off period why can't the bank directly call up the account owner to ask for verification and implement multi level authentication to hardened the security?

This SecureSign already existed for sometime and worked for older versions of the app so it's no excuse to disable it by surprising your users.
I've suggested earlier that you can make a Lite version of the app with a soft based token generator but with all the important risky functions of the full app disabled. That way people can still access the token/SecureSign feature while making transactions over the web browser logging into the site.
The switch from SMS TACs to SecureSign was fine but not the sudden forcing of users to adopt Android 10 above.

The past scams there were cases where despite transaction limit were set millions were still able to be transferred out without proper authentication/verification. Has that anything to do with Android OS? Pointing fingers and blaming others is what they're doing. This is not good to the bank's reputation for their customers.
When their customers lose trust in them they'll be pulling out their funds soon from the bank. Buying a new phone is secondary because once trust is breached we the customers will know there will always be excuses later again.

Yeah I kinda agree with TS. Maybe the app should trigger a notification when it detects that the phone android version is already the minimum supported version.

Kids buying a new phone is fine but the hassle of migrating and reinstalling all the previous apps into the news phone securely...do you think your kids will have the time to patiently do that for you when they all have their families on their own and busy work schedules?

-Get a new phone. Your Nova 3i is a 2018 model. A 5 years old phone. In tech terms, that's very long.

Also I'm beginning to lose trust in a bank where they are now starting to blame their customers for their own wrongdoings without even a single apology. That speaks a lot for their reputation. Never like PB in the first place they have very weak security and unprofessional.
Their bank counters when you doing transaction with the teller, always got weird customers who come and barge in trying to interrupt you or peek at your receipts. Could be crooks or scammers doing such things. Unlike other banks they have separate cubicles with partitions.

If I were PB I would probably consider demanding a detailed query on the app developer which is handling their app or even consider terminating their service.
Worst in place of their customer service the app developer even dared to do damage PR for them by telling off their customers and insult them on public space.
Also this needs to open a serious query on BNM by the banks on their decision to introduce such requirements without proper auditing and proper measures before setting such rules.
Banks refuse to spend any money on Malaysian customers and instead get the Malaysian customer to spend at least few hundred MYR to get new phone. Every couple of years.
And these banks suddenly became more understanding if they are in different country, becos they suddenly seem to get it that in other countries, many people are using old phones. So they order their developer to make a compatible app.
All the other major banks like Tiger Bank, Sotong Bank, Affin Bank, MBSB, HLB and even OCBC Malaysia all still available and usable on poorfag old Android phone.
