As of March 8, 2023, the central bank reserves of Malaysia and Singapore are as follows:
Malaysia: 134.5 billion USD Singapore: 345.2 billion USD As you can see, Singapore has a much larger central bank reserve than Malaysia. This is due to a number of factors, including Singapore's status as a global financial hub and its strong economic growth. Here are some of the reasons why Singapore has a larger central bank reserve than Malaysia: Singapore is a global financial hub. Singapore is a major center for international trade, finance, and investment. This means that there is a lot of money flowing through the country, which helps to boost the central bank reserve. Singapore has a strong economic growth. Singapore has consistently recorded strong economic growth over the past few decades. This has helped to boost the country's tax revenue, which has in turn helped to increase the central bank reserve. In contrast, Malaysia is a less developed country with a smaller economy. This has led to lower tax revenue and a smaller central bank reserve. ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(ry8128 @ Jun 10 2023, 03:26 PM) Most funny is majority of ktards resort to personal insult on her like how she look, her boob size and etc just because of their butthurtness. Well, I would say she shouldn't make joke out of tragedy. It just shows how low is their mentality and matureness, lmao. Typical malaysians. Still I agree with what you said, I don't understand ktards.. so if want to be something or someone, only good looking people should do it? If wanna be comedian, must be good looking? Not good looking people must not attempt to be something or achieve anything? Or were they mean to say if Jocelyn Chia looked like young Angelina Jolie, she then can be excused for what she said? |

QUOTE(r2t2 @ Jun 10 2023, 05:53 PM) Concurred. yeah. i try to go to those international act live show if they come to Malaysia... the way they "insults" the attendees were much classier than this. Her crowd work isn't great either (from the few videos on her YouTube channel I tried to watch before watching that infamous clip) ... compared to Andrew Schulz (who will roast both sides of Dem and Rep, and when asking audience where they're from, he'll do the known stereotype of the nationalities, but then he'll ask more questions, like genuinely want to know more, not just make fun of the audience .. it's like he's trying to get all to laugh together, not just syok sendiri laugh one-sided at audience; but somehow, his materials deemed too risky for Netflix to buy as special (only got earlier Schulz Saves America 4 episode series), until he had to sell his INFAMOUS show direct to public ... maybe Netflix willing to defend more famous Dave Chapelle instead, who is a genius in his delivery (psa, Chapelle Show will leave Netflix end of this June)) .... ... err, what did I wanna say ... oh, that ex-Singaporean's stand up crowd work is like normal chit-chat with a group of people ... maybe it's ok for a small audience in the comedy club at that moment, but for playback views, not interesting. Her roastings and comebacks, not witty enuf. Altho, some punchlines did get chuckles from me, e.g. Dubai, more like he buy; she seemed to be really punching down on Malaysia. Female comedians can be both vulgar and funny at the same time, e.g. Ali Wong, Wanda Sykes, Whitney Cummings, Taylor Tomlinson, etc. .. and relatively more 'serious' type e.g. Hannah Gadsby, Tig Notaro ... ya, ya, I rely on Netflix a lot as stand ups sos. (oh, try watching Adrienne lapalucci ... just a short episode from Netflix The Degenerates collection ... deadpan dark humour hilarious). come to think of it.. hell even uncle Roger is better the last time he is in kl |

Singapore is clearly a more developed country than Malaysia. In 2022, Singapore's GDP per capita was $68,000, while Malaysia's was $10,000. Singapore also has a higher life expectancy (84 years) and a higher literacy rate (98%) than Malaysia (77 years and 95%).
There are a number of factors that have contributed to Singapore's higher level of development. These include: A strong focus on education and human capital development. Singapore has invested heavily in education and training, which has helped to create a skilled and productive workforce. A business-friendly environment. Singapore has a low corporate tax rate and a well-developed infrastructure, which has made it an attractive destination for foreign investment. A stable political environment. Singapore has a long history of political stability, which has created a favorable environment for economic growth. Malaysia has also made progress in recent years, but it still has a long way to go to catch up with Singapore. ![]() |

Btw, it is interesting to note that the biggest beneficiary of this incident is ... Singapore.
It is really a Master Class on how to handle such situations. It has become clear now. This is what they did. After Jocelyns jokes, Sg quickly apologized but at the same time they pointed out that Jocelyn is an American i.e they do not need to apologize at all or Sg apologized on behalf of an American showing empathy to everyone including Malaysians and the comedians. With that Sg immediately took the moral high ground and at the same time they extricated themselves from an ugly fight with a bunch of comedians. Why on earth would you want to waste time on such a fight? You cant win it. Meanwhile Sg watched while Msia suffered a total melt down and have an embarrassing online fight with Jocelyn and the US comedians. Msia s suffered reputational loss - malu la! So did Jocelyn and her comedian friends - but what's reputation to comedians? They can ride on the controversy and get more fans. If you're an astute investor, where would you want to put your money? Sg or Msia? And Sg relationship with US remains intact. Smart lil red dot. |

QUOTE(jaapers @ Jun 10 2023, 12:29 PM) And you are stuck to the original definition when her context can be different? Everyone knows the definition of first world is not exactly set in stone. Just because she doesn't follow your decades old definition doesn't mean she's wrong. Well, definition matters. Otherwise anyone can claim to be anything.Fact is, by many metrics, Singapore is a developed first world nation. If you deny it then you are probably just being petty. The fact remains that she is incorrect in this matter. However it remains unclear why you die2 want to protect this so-called comedian. |
