On the contrary, CF exhaust note sounds klunky on idle & low revs. On high revs - it sound a tad bass-ier compared to titanium & aluminium. Observed this on Akrapovic's twin setup on a Z1000 - CF & Titanium.
Generally, all cans/silencers are made of the same internal compound sound absorption materials. It is just the enclosures that are made differently and by right, it should not sound different. Mainly this is to address aesthetics and personal preference. Personally, I go with the cheapest cans I can get. Hence for the recycled aluminium cans on my kapchai. |

monaz, full systems would give a high pitchy note at heavy acceleration and high revs. Slip ons sounds bassier & louder with the stock headers compared with full system on idle & low revs. Again, this is all base on my age old ears and my hearing capability may differ from others. This observation again is based on 2010-12 Z1000s.
T600 - i really couldnt afford those high end titanium cans laaa. |

Lucifah, get use to it. Personally, i prefer bike with stronger engine raking rather than relying heavily on brakes to slow down. Just make sure u get to the right gear and powerband to negotiate through a corner.
If u put the seat cowl, how are you going to take te cute girl at the gas station for a ride? I find the 6n/f's rear seat the best compared to Zs. I would say keep it. The seat cowl is just aesthetic. |

QUOTE(mfcm @ Mar 18 2012, 01:19 PM) Yes, the ZX10r is smaller, lighter and more powerful compared to Z750 & 1000. If it is your 1st time on a sportsbike, it will take you some time to get adjusted to the baby crouching position when riding. If you like 3/4 upright riding position, the Z would fit you well. Old man like me cannot crouch already - hence for the Z for me. I think I paid around RM800 for my B full. |

QUOTE(mfcm @ Mar 19 2012, 10:16 PM) Yes. Not quite sure what u are asking for, but..Stock cans with Y-pipe: Lots of backfiring. Sounds like a 9mm shooting peas. No change in exhaust note, some say its bassier as cat is removed. Arrow's titanium dual slip-on with Y-pipe: Blue colour backfiring. Sounds like a thumper when backfire. Loud and bassy idle and low rev grunt. Can achieve 129whp. Arrow's titanium dual can full system: Crazy backfiring, sounds like your typical CNY red crackers. Mid to high end screamer. 135whp. Arrow single recycled aluminium can full system: Crazy backfiring, sounds like your typical CNY red crackers. Mid to high end screamer. Typical rempit bike. 135whp. Added on March 20, 2012, 3:12 am QUOTE(shaqmunak @ Mar 20 2012, 03:01 AM) Hi all, Yes, but also depends on the bike. I am weighted at 65kg and when I rode my Z750 at speeds of 180kmh above, I could feel rear shocks were vibrating. Was told that I was rather featherweight at that speed due to the bikes aerodynamics. I had to plant my toes and body force on the pegs to gain confidence at that speeds. i got 1 question, let say if ride a 600cc bike..does weight of rider contribute to stability of the bike?etc cornering comparing a 60kg and 80kg person..which is more stable? My sifu and riding buddy on the same platform but heavier than me by 15-30 kgs has no problems. Changed to a newer Z and I could bring it to speeds of 250kmh without breaking a sweat or confidence. Shipping via USPS is quite fast though. I got my items about the same timeframe as well.
I am now drooling over the StreetFighter 848. Maybe I should consider a downgrade... |

Generally most sportsbikes have tall gear ratios. Hence your upshifting frequency is not that often compared to streetfighters n trail bikes. I believe that is also another reason the quickshifter does not appeal to you.

QUOTE(lucifah @ Apr 5 2012, 12:34 AM) holy shit You are not used to it yet. It took me awhile to get used to the wind at 3/4 riding position while maintaining speeds of 160-180. Anything after that will be rempit style of baby crouching or full tuck-in position. today i managed to get past 800km, which then allows me to rev up to 6,000rpm i rode the bike at 130km/h - my gawd, it was hard! the wind just push you to the back, and you're struggling to hold on the handle bars... wind noise in the helmet is loud. very loud. and it's getting more difficult to breathe, since air travel too fast, that most of it didn't even go into your helmet vent i hold onto it for 3 - 5 mins max, and came out shaken. just can't imagine how u guys can do 180km/h on a neekkid bike, let alone a 300km/h on a proper faired bike i think i have to learn how to crouch on the bike to reduce wind resistance. any guide, sifus? Before you do anything, just make sure you've got a right fitting helmet to reduce the free play on drag lift. Otherwise you will be dealing a lot with movements with the extra free space and it is complete hazardous. Imagine that you have to focus on the road and worry about the helmet not being securely fit at the same time. To get into a full tuck-in mode, just google for Rossi's pic and mimic his riding position and aim for 200km/h and beyond! Ultimately a screen would help. But bear in mind that the screen only divert the air over the helmet where your shoulders are still taking toll of wind resistance which may stress neck muscles if you do not tuck in properly.
Different riders have different level of resistance. I just get used to it and enjoy my ride however I can. This post has been edited by phobian: Apr 5 2012, 02:00 AM |

QUOTE(kapalterbang_737 @ Apr 19 2012, 10:30 AM) fuuu phobian where u find such stretch that allows u to maintain 200km/h for more than 20minutes? Early morning ride + resident rempit to clear the route made that happen. my bike reach 220 oso very scared got car suddenly switch lane.. Anyway met a fellow R1 rider yesterday and had a nice chat with him..still young only 20yo..me 24yo feel old oredi » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Anyway I'm thinking of changing helmet, currenty using SOL 48S and the wind noise damn loud mehh Any good helmet with low wind noise under rm1k? interested with AGV K3 and Caberg Konda but didn't really how do they perform.. For helmet within the given budget, I would go with a Shoei Z6. Though its been in the market for a while I got mine for SGD450. Small shell, light, well built and i love shoei visors. Otherwise I would recommend Shoei Qwest, Shoei XR1100, HJC RPHA10 & Arai Astro IQ. This 4 helmets vents well, so prepared for slightly louder wind noise. Personally, i still prefer my old XR1100. Fantastic helmet and very solid-ly built until I crashed in it. Replaced it with a Z6 and now looking at Arai as well. I am not a big fan of non japanese helmets as I find the shell size they use is larger. I have a KBC Force RR, shell and fitment is bigger and parts of pressure point is also roomier compared to my japanese helmets. monaz, I beg to differ though. 1 year ago since I took up riding, I started with a Z750 with little bike riding experience and it was a straight shot to a 750cc inline4 platform. Upgraded to a 1000cc in 3 months after that and in total of 12 months - I have clocked in excess of 20K kms. I am on my 3rd rear tyres - where the first 2 I clocked about 5K & 11K each. Front tyres, on my 2nd set which the first set lasted me 15K kms.
Perhaps my bike is new, got it in late August 2011 with regular maintenance every 4K - 5K kms. Its a street bike, I use it for daily commute whenever I can, weekend rides and I even took it for a 1000KM ride all the way to Phuket. No problemos on mechanical works so far and maintenance is almost the same as any other sedan cars though. A quick summary of what I have spent on maintenance on my bike is equivalent to my car. In short, what I am trying to say is it does not mean bigger cc, more money to be wasted on maintenance and such. |

QUOTE(kucinggemok @ May 30 2012, 03:54 PM) kucinggemok, I got all this from multiple places. Let me see if I can list them down here. Spidi Track Wind Pro suit - SGD1200 Shoei Z6 solid colour with additional dark smoke visor - SGD450 KBC Force RR solid colour - RM600 if i recall correctly. I picked this up at SBM Cheras when they had a sale RS Taichi GMX Motion Jacket with upgraded flex chest protector - SGD700 Dainese Air-2 Textile Jacket - RM320 if i recall correctly. Picked this up together with the Forma boots Sidi ST boots - RM1000 Forma Boulevard boots - RM520 if i recall correctly I dont want to see the total damage on how much I have spent on gears - otherwise I would get hell from *ahem ahem*. Dainese jacket is replica - made in Vietnam. Use it for daily rides, quality of the materials and zippers have me protected coming to 1 year already. Trying to locate the factory/bulk for this jacket over at Vietnam - but nobody seems to know who the supplier is in Vietnam. Wanted to see what other stuffs they make...
kapalterbang_737 - price listed in SGD is purchased there and hand carried back. Prices in SG is indeed cheaper only at certain places. Brands like Dainese is quite standard between here, HK and SG as I have seen. For Alpinestars, I can vouch that SG is cheaper. SG Helmets on the other hand is definitely cheaper and much choices for you to choose from. A riding mate just picked up a new Arai Doohan TT RX7RR5 for SGD800. If you happen to be there or plan to go SG, I suggest you budget your shopping list otherwise will be like me - impulse buy and want to buy almost everything! More drool on Arai helmets during my recent trip to HK ![]() Burnt another hole in my pocket there as I picked up a helmet & visors on sale there... |
