Just curious, I know nothing about watches, Tissot's PRX will be my first and probably last watch. I'm just wondering is Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 a watch that would grow in value and still be relevant in NA years to come ?

Buy, wear and enjoy the watch. When you enjoy wearing it, value will be the least to care about.

the looks are very nice, but someone how doesn't sit well on my wrist

Is the PRX Powermatic 80 self-winding ? Correct me if I'm wrong, there's 2 type of winding watches, both mechanical, but one is hand / manual winding, and another is self winding.

Manual winding means that the wearer have to wind the watch every time the time stops to power it up. But self winding means the watch would power up itself automatically when worn ?

Nope, you will need to adjust the time and date again.

Ohh, a bit confused at this part. So as long as I wear the watch daily, and the watch doesn't stop completely, then it will automatically power up by just wearing it. But if it stops completely after 3 days, I have to pull the crown and manual wind it to power it up ?

Lol I saw from many youtube reviews that even though prx 80 is 40mm, even small wrist can have a perfect fit and looks just nice.

Tissot PRX lug to lug length is on the longer side.

suggest to try it out the store first to see if it fits your wrist size.

try getting something smart casual which you can match dressy shirt and your usual polo-T or just plain t-shirts.

automatic has rotor for auto-swing to get the movement runs

Powermatic 80 is using Tissot's own modified ETA2824 which allows 80hrs power reserve, and it is automatic.

if you're keen with a integrated bracelet watch such as PRX, with lower budget... can consider Citizen nj0150 aka Tsuyosa.

similar design, automatic... can get it below 1k locally.

get into automatics if you really are into watches, else you are going to hate the experience of winding it /resetting the time every now and then.

I mean 300-500 is kinda tough now bro unless u sticking with casio.

Under 1k consider alba...pretty much seiko under the hood without the pricetag (but if you really look around there are some quartz seiko in that range of 700-1k with sapphire glass and all).

tbh cant go wrong with the japanese here...1k ish tissot lo..but the build quality isnt really all that great if compared to a similarly priced seiko/orient/citizen.

oh and pleas try them on first! buying online sure difficult to gauge how its going to wear in real life (since our wrists are never the same size shape and etc)

I'm going to try out the PRX Powermatic 80 this week hopefully if I get the time.

I have no problem with winding occasionally, in fact it would feel more personal to me. But I thought automatic watches doesn't really require a need for winding except for some micro adjusting of the time and date if it gets off. Because the rotors moves according to our arm's movement so I was told that is the same as winding ?

yes, but once you put it down a few days it stops running. Then youll need to reset it and give it some winds.

Accuracy will drift, btw prx is a good choice, i recommended that to a friend who isnt into watches. So far so good

Ah yes, when I get it the watch for the first time ( and when and if I not wearing for few days and it stops ) then i'll wind, I kinda like the feeling of winding a watch, although I have never tried yet.

Yeah just really love everything about the prx 80.

i havent use one before...if im not using i rather let the movement rest...why bother with unwanted wear right?

regardless after 5-7yrs or so the watch will probably require servicing (might be longer depending on movement and usage). Tbh i dont see the need for a winder unless u running something very2 complex like a perpetual calendar.

What im saying is...just use only until something is wrong, then send in.



psst, get a jewelry tray from shopee, the soft material wont scratch your watch case if you are using it daily. Beats putting it directly on hard surfaces...wont immediately show wear, but over time yes
