Hello, I've been wearing DW / G-Shock watches in the past, I feel that it's time for an upgrade. As I'm reaching my big 30, and my taste of many things have changed, including taste for watches ( I'm not a watch enthusiast ). I'm looking for a watch that represents maturity which reflects my age and taste.
As I'm under a budget, and I do not wish to splurge on expensive watches, my budget is probably at or around 300-500. All I'm looking for is a good quality timepiece that will lasts me a few decades if not a lifetime. Any other brands that sifu can recommend for me to look at ?

Orient or Seiko used, i purchased a Orient for 550 and Seiko for almost 1k 4 years back. You can buy Ball, Breitling and Omega around 5k if u really want to flex but having a seiko or orient , heck even Alba i are really high quality watches. DW is more like a fashion watch but the ones i mentioned i feel are really good watches. Also you need to know about movement automatic or quartz. Automatic is fancy but quartz is maintainces free so all the best.

Up your budget to RM1,000 and you'll have plenty of good choices like (in no particular order),
- Orient - Timex - Casio - Seiko - Sea-Gull (Aliexpress Sale)

Leather only for functions cz prolonged wear hand bit sweaty and not comfy. Also watch face try and match the ave color of your clothes.

Thanks for all the advice guys, appreciate it. Just wondering if u guys can chip in some advice, which is better ? Quartz or Automatic ?
I've googled and seems like Quartz is the one that most people would say it's more accurate and more reliable ?

I've googled and seems like Quartz is the one that most people would say it's more accurate and more reliable ? i just started this watch collection hobby, and i choose seiko 5 automatic. for me, automatic watch abit more fun. u have to keep it alive. some power reserve up to 40hours, 70hours, etc. u can interact more with the watch. like adjusting the date, time everytime the watch no power. and need to send for servicing every +-5years once. but for quartz its simple. just put it on ur hand and enjoy. just need to change the battery every 2,3 years. I see, I also tend to agree with you. I love to interact and be as close as possible to my watch, it feels even more personal to me, part of my life. So I guess I will go with the automatic, as it kinds of needs me to wear it daily, which is what I'm going to do, the service part also seems interesting and fun, just like servicing my car.

P/S - Sorry for bumping thread.
I'm keeping my eyes on the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80, since after researching, it's within my budget and according to many reviews, it's one of the best if not the best watch anyone can get on the market for that price point. The build quality is top notch and what took my attraction is how beautiful the blue dial and overall design is, that and it's an automatic movement.
I got one question though, it seems like the watch case and the metal strap is match in heaven, but there is also a leather strap that is made for it, is choosing the strap just pure preference or which is better ?

Because it's an integrated bracelet, you would need to get a custom made strap if you want to go down the leather route.

But Tissot's official website have the PRX Powermatic 80 model with a leather strap, isn't that the official leather strap that Tissot launched back then ?

Oh apologies I misread your message haha. The typical thinking for watches is always get the bracelet if your budget permits, then you can get an additional leather strap should you wish to. That is because if you get the leather now, and later you want to get the bracelet, it will cost a lot more. Plus, for leather, if you want one later, it can be customised if you feel the official option isn't to your liking, but for bracelet the option will be limited.

I will get the one that comes with bracelet and then buy an additional leather strap. I still really prefer the overall look and feel of the leather strap. By the way, why is it called a bracelet and not a metal /stainless steel strap ?

It's interchangeable, but because bracelet is almost exclusively refering to steel, while strap is more associated with leather, people use it for clarity.
