Ukraine has rejected western criticism of its counteroffensive against Russia, saying the fightback is not too slow as is being suggested and that despite limited weapons, Kyiv's men are advancing on the battlefield to free their land from Russian occupiers. Ukraine's deputy defence minister Hanna Maliar said Ukraine has proved it can push back a better-armed and numerically superior enemy, Reuters reported. shakehead.gif

Missile attack on Cape Tarkhankut

On the morning of August 23, Ukrainian formations again attacked the Crimean peninsula. Cape Tarkhankut, where several military facilities are located, and which the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been actively monitoring for several weeks, including with the help of NATO satellites, came under attack.

❗️Only this time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine changed tactics: first, two drones, probably Mugin-5, which took off from Kryvyi Rih, approached a distance of 30-40 km to the peninsula and caused air defense fire.

The drones were shot down, but almost immediately after the launch of anti-aircraft missiles from the sea, three Ukrainian missiles were fired.

📌 Just yesterday, 40 km from Tarkhankut, a group of boats operated with scouts of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, who, probably, conducted visual observation of objects near the Crimea.

Yes, our pilots destroyed one of the boats, as well as two more near Snake Island, but the rest, operating 5-10 km away, left. Their activity there was unique, but today's attack shows that it is not accidental.

🔻 The strike itself, presumably, was inflicted by anti-ship missiles. It can be both "Harpoons" and "Neptunes". And here it is worth adding that for two weeks Ukrainian sailors have been actively transporting unidentified weapons to Snake Island and an empty gas production plant to the east of it.

And the threat from boats cannot be written off. They at least have man-portable anti-aircraft missile and anti-tank systems, including RBS-17, armed with Hellfires

❗️As was to be expected: the Ukrainian side published footage of the strike on the air defense positional area at Cape Tarkhankut. Only the S-300 air defense system, not the S-400, as well as the fuel tanker, came under attack, but the fact that the destruction of the air defense system fell on the UAV camera is also interesting.

Judging by the footage, the drone was located northwest of the impact site, that is, in the Black Sea somewhere south of the Tendra Spit. I immediately recall how a month and a half ago, the Armed Forces of Ukraine began testing the Tekever AR5 UAV together with the V-BAT, including for reconnaissance of the situation on the Kinburn Peninsula.

Considering that the Portuguese drone is equipped with the latest technology, it was not difficult to capture the moment of arrival while over the Black Sea. And with a high degree of probability, he took off from Vilkovo or Odessa, which again raises the issue of strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure along the coast.

📌 As for the impact itself, the arrival power is not too high. This casts doubt on the version with an anti-ship missile - the main part of the explosion was caused by the secondary detonation of ammunition.

Taking into account the activity of Ukrainian boats, which were picked up even at 30 km, it is quite possible that the ship's version of the high-precision Brimstone II missile was used in the attack. Its range makes it possible to hit from such a distance, and the power of the warhead is relatively small.

🔻And again the question arises why Ukrainian boats come so close to the shores of Crimea. They did this more than once, practicing such tactics, and only yesterday some countermeasures were taken. But this is not enough: we need a systematic defeat of the entire Ukrainian fleet, and this requires changes in the organization of the Russian Navy.

It's time to release the Varshavyanka. nod.gif

Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin is believed to be dead in a plane crash in Russia. Prigozhin was on the passenger list of a business jet that crashed enroute from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Ten people are reported dead in the crash and it is unclear if Prigozhin had boarded the aircraft. The crash comes months after he rebelled against Russian president Vladimir Putin. Watch.

Wagner Mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin was on the passenger list of the plane that crashed in Russia, but it wasn't immediately clear if he was on board. A plane carrying three pilots and seven passengers that was en route from Moscow to St. Petersburg went down more than 100 kilometers (60 miles) north of the capital, according to officials cited by Russia’s state news agency Tass.

A purported video sourced by Associated Press shows a plane believed to be Wagner Aircraft crashing somewhere in Russia. The plane is said to be the same aircraft in which Wagner Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin is reported dead. The crash occurred in the north of Russian capital Moscow and 10 people are confirmed killed. It is unclear whether Prigozhin was onm board the aircraft.

U.S. President Joe Biden on Wednesday said he was not surprised by reports that Russian mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin may have died in a plane crash, adding that not much happens in the country that President Vladimir Putin is not behind.

Russian Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin was aboard a plane that crashed north of Moscow on Wednesday, killing all 10 people on board, according to Russia’s civil aviation agency. The crash also comes after Russian media reported that a top general linked to Prigozhin was dismissed from his position as commander of the air force. Russia’s civilian aviation agency, Rosaviatsia, quickly reported that he was on the manifest and later said that, according to the airline, he was indeed on board.

Soledar direction
: situation as of 12.00 on August 24,2023

In the vicinity of Bakhmut, the situation has relatively stabilized. After several unsuccessful attempts, the Armed Forces of Ukraine again moved on to replenishing units and preparing for new attacks.

🔻The large number of killed and wounded in the assault formations forced the Armed Forces of Ukraine to adjust their plans. In the 2nd battalion of the 3rd brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, only 28% of combat-ready personnel remained, and less than half of the standard equipment. shakehead.gif
Pasukan Ukraina menderita banyak korban akibat pertempuran. shocking.gif

Now in the area of Kostiantynivka and Belaya Gora, there is an active training and coordination of the assault detachments of the 92nd Mechanized Brigade, the 57th Mechanized Brigade and the 24th Aidar Battalion of the 5th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are planned to be used on the southern flank of Bakhmut in the second wave.

🔻In the first echelon, 14 assault groups of the national police brigade "Lyut" are now preparing for an attack. Eight of them intend to storm Hill 195.4 near Kleshcheyevka in order to force Russian troops to retreat from the village.

And the rest plan to move along the railway tracks in the direction of Andreevka and Kurdyumivka to block the approaches to the Kurdyumovsky triangle.

🔻At the same time, in the north, in the vicinity of Seversk, there is also a concentration of six enemy assault groups, which indicates a possible activation from Razdolovka. In recent weeks, the 10th OGSBR and the 54th Mechanized Brigade have been intensively preparing reserves for the attack, so it is quite possible that an offensive from several sides is synchronized in time.

On the landing of Ukrainian DRGs on Tarkhankut and the consequences of false reports

At night, two to four high-speed boats landed in the Olenevka area at Cape Tarkhankut, conducted demonstrative firing from a grenade launcher on camera and departed back, from where they went to Burlachya Balka.

This is the second incident in the area of the cape in the last few days. Only recently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted a combined attack, as a result of which the S-300 air defense system was destroyed, and now they have landed on the shore.

🔻The activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the Crimean peninsula is becoming more and more high. Statements about the destruction of four boats are, of course, good, but false reports make you turn a blind eye to the existing gaps in the defense.

It is not without reason that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been testing the ground near the Crimea for several weeks, looking for loopholes for the landing operation, for which the British were preparing them. And Tarkhankut is the most convenient place for this kind of action.

🔻The coastline of the cape is almost on the same level with the sea, which makes it ideal for the approach of small boats. And if now it was just an ostentatious sortie, then what prevented them from climbing the hill and hitting a military facility there?

The fact that Ukrainian formations are planning operations in Crimea is already a fact. And in this case, instead of rosy reports, it is more expedient to do everything possible to curb such activity. Especially in places with large concentrations of civilians.

Apparently, Zelensky's corrupt regime chose to ignore the advice of their master whom bankrolled the counteroffensive to stop pointless attacks on Crimea. thumbsup.gif Their compulsive obsession with Crimea and Bakhmut are going to be their downfall. nod.gif

Ukraine’s recent focus on Crimea draws skepticism from corners of the Biden administration
Key highlights:

For some military and Biden administration officials, Ukrainian attacks on Crimea are at best a distraction, and at worst, a valuable waste of resources in a strategy that many analysts now believe has left Ukraine stretched too thin between multiple axes of attack.
“It’s knocked the Russians off balance a bit, but it is not doing anything decisive,” a senior defense official told CNN. “And it would probably be better for everyone for them to just focus on the counteroffensive.”

Ukraine has conducted “some pretty good attacks on logistics and command and control” in Crimea, one US military official said, but “I don’t think those effects have fully come to bear.”
But so far, some US officials and outside analysts say, the attacks do not appear to be having much of an impact. In 10 weeks of fighting, Ukraine has failed to break through Russian defensive lines – something some critics believe is because Ukraine failed to prioritize any one effort and instead spread their resources too thin across multiple fronts.

Some US and western officials insist that the Russian defensive lines are limited to a single line of forces, suggesting that if Ukraine is able break through, Russia will be vulnerable from the rear. But after 10 weeks of fighting, the front lines remain fixed. And eventually, the brutal math of warfare – the plain number of bullets and bodies that an army has to throw into the fight – may not be on Ukraine’s side. “It puts into question how much Ukraine will have available in combat strength to exploit any breakthrough,” said Michael Kofman, a senior fellow in the Russia and Eurasia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. “Russian forces proved far less brittle than hoped over the past several months.”

Miles of minefields laid by Russia have kept Ukraine at bay and for weeks now, and the two sides have been engaged in a grinding fight within a narrow, unchanging band along the frontlines.
Ukraine has for now largely abandoned more complex maneuvering that the US had trained its military to use in favor of smaller-unit engagements and heavy use of artillery, which US officials are privately concerned about, CNN has reported.
Billions of dollars wasted, countless Ukrainian lives lost... shakehead.gif

When the Ukrainian war sponsor like the UK starts to post opinion piece such as this in their news site; things are not so rosy for the Zelensky regime in the near future.
UK is planning for an off ramp just like what they did in Afghanistan.

Ukraine’s army is running out of men to recruit, and time to win
Victory may be in sight for Vladimir Putin
by Robert Clark, Director Defense & Security Unit (DSU) at Civitas.
LinkIn Profile

The war in Ukraine is now one of attrition, fought on terms that increasingly favour Moscow. Kyiv has dealt admirably with shortages of Western equipment so far, but a shortage of manpower – which it is already having to confront – may prove fatal.

Broadly speaking, Kyiv’s highly anticipated counter-offensive has gathered much-needed momentum in recent weeks, with hard-fought gains around the strategically important village of Robotyne. If this falls, the road to the Azov sea will be in sight. If Ukrainian forces can reach the coast, they will split the land-bridge connecting Russia with Crimea, potentially routing Moscow’s troops.
There are 3 major defense lines after Robotyne which the author forget to mention...

Ukraine’s forces, however, are not just fighting massed defenses and artillery fire. They are also fighting against time. Having first penetrated the formidable Russian minefields four weeks ago, Kyiv is desperate to exploit its early successes before mounting casualties and autumn rains destroy its fighting capability.

It’s a brutal but simple calculation: Kyiv is running out of men. US sources have calculated that its armed forces have lost as many as 70,000 killed in action, with another 100,000 injured. rolleyes.gif While Russian casualties are higher still, the ratio nevertheless favours Moscow, as Ukraine struggles to replace soldiers in the face of a seemingly endless supply of conscripts.
Cool story on Ukrainian and Russian casualties. cool2.gif

Volunteers are no longer coming forward in numbers sufficient to keep the army at fighting strength: those most willing to fight signed up years ago. The latest recruitment slogan is “it’s OK to be afraid”, but there are still many attempting to dodge being drafted to fight on the front lines.

For all the difficulties the Kremlin has faced in its forced conscriptions, it still has hundreds of thousands of men to draw upon. This is a resource Ukraine simply cannot match, and one that the West cannot supply.
For Vladimir Putin, victory may at last be in sight as Western support begins to waver. If Kyiv cannot break through the Russian lines now, it may never be able to. If it runs out of willing men to recruit, the West cannot help. lol.gif

Ukraine tells military-age citizens to 'overcome their fear' in recruitment campaign
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced a general mobilization after Russia's February 2022 full-scale invasion and military reservists between the ages of 18 and 60 are eligible for conscription.

'Overcome your fear': Ukraine targets teenage boys in recruitment campaign

Ukraine's defense ministry urged military-age citizens to update their data at army enlistment offices and "overcome their fear" in a campaign launched on Thursday (August 17) as a summer counter-offensive grinds through its third month.
The campaign, which draws on slickly-produced videos and photo testimonials of prominent soldiers describing their fears, aims to break down a major obstacle in army recruitment, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said.
The campaign comes with Ukraine likely facing tougher challenges in recruiting as the war with Russia, now in an brutally attritional phase, nears the 18-month mark.
As she outlined the campaign, Maliar was careful to say that not all those who updated their personal data would automatically be mobilised into the army and that not all those who are mobilised would end up in a combat zone.

Zelensky's corrupt regime has no qualms sending teenagers to the meatgrinder at the frontlines. shakehead.gif
