If you starting from zero with no collection of DSLR lenses, just go mirrorless. As for whether waste or not, only you can answer. How serious are you with birding? Long telephotos aren’t cheap.

Mirrorless less heavy but requires more battery for that display.

Get more additional battery.

Lens and filter is the one you will have lots of headache

Mostly for landscape so i only invested on 16mm and 70-200mm. But now i ada interest on birding hehe. So wanna get 300mm

Just amateur only. Wanna get some shot from far. 200mm cant cut it

well if you still want to get a lens for your DLSR make sure you get a 300mm prime lens and non of that 300mm zoom shit.

Now days camera phone already enough for general use

People who buy dslr/mirrorless camera nowdays mesti ada job related like videographer or photographer wedding etc

I retired ady but still have my nikon d600+nikon 24-70mm, 50mm 1.4 with flash etc

I like to print out large banners. Phone also when u edit, can see the sharpness is not there. Bit fakish details

Depends on your need. mirrorless could offer more advantage for example better AF etc. DSLR lensse can be used on mirrorless using adapters and will offer better AF compared to DSLR body. I migrated from DSLR to mirrorless and would recommend if you think that suits your need.

Have you try taking raw photos from phone?

Yes the sharpness somewhat kurang skit on phone because they edit ady with scene detection and such
