If you starting from zero with no collection of DSLR lenses, just go mirrorless. As for whether waste or not, only you can answer. How serious are you with birding? Long telephotos aren’t cheap.

well if you still want to get a lens for your DLSR make sure you get a 300mm prime lens and non of that 300mm zoom shit.

People who buy dslr/mirrorless camera nowdays mesti ada job related like videographer or photographer wedding etc I retired ady but still have my nikon d600+nikon 24-70mm, 50mm 1.4 with flash etc |

Depends on your need. mirrorless could offer more advantage for example better AF etc. DSLR lensse can be used on mirrorless using adapters and will offer better AF compared to DSLR body. I migrated from DSLR to mirrorless and would recommend if you think that suits your need. bananajoe liked this post
