Been to Penang multiple times pre-pandemic, but don't remember seeing the norm for motor to come out junction and straight to the middle or other side of road.

Only in JB did I see these dare devil antics pre-pandemic, motorcycles merging into main roads or coming out of junctions (on coming traffic >60km/h) without a care for their lives or of the huge ass lorry barreling down on them. Cars speeding by next to me while I was sitting on mamak restaurant which placed tables on the road. I kept saying JB is the only place in Malaysia that caused my palms to sweat and grip the steering wheel tightly, and I have >10 yrs of driving experience when I went to JB.

Recently (last 6 months or so) I have been noticing similar dare devil antics (coming out junction without a care for oncoming traffic) in Klang Valley, among motorcyclists and cars. That and the deterioration in common sense among road users is not making my driving experience in Klang Valley a pleasant one. Seems like JB exported their riders to Penang and Klang Valley already.

I am surprise too, seeing how the momentum of kena hantamed until mampoi. Unfortunately, Malaysia takde nombor plate scheme that allows you to see what kind of year that darn BMW is from. If here in the UK I saw a bmw nice like hell but nombor plate in front is like 12 or 17 that means its out to road at year 2012 and 2017. I would challenge the car if their nombor plate is XX19-20-21 but if its XX03 or 04, dun risk. They'll get you dead.

Agreed, because I not Penang lang ma, but been there multiple times, got into accident there before, and generally I like Penang (island) way of driving, some of the short cuts they do when stuck in traffic as long as it's not too risky - because, you know, traffic gotta move, cars/motors will find a way, like they say, so I'm not too stressed driving there, since the style quite match mine.

My observation was, there is a marked deterioration in driving skill/common sense post-pandemic in Klang Valley, maybe it applies to the whole of Malaysia and maybe it applies to me too.
