Bro, I just told you, I personally know of 2 families who found the going difficult for their children after they gave up their (the children’s) PR status to avoid enlistment. That’s not a rumour.

*
My classmate was on a PEP, his wife was on an EP. They are now PRs … but this was more than 10 years ago.

No one said anything about being unable to renter. I only said it will have potential consequences for employment in the future. Not my words, MINDEF’s.

Most want the benefit of PR but stay in malaysia. I really facepalm la ..
*
Even our TS also mentioned he wanted to pull the same stunt and do the daily commute…. So it’s not uncommon, but it does go contrary to the spirit of the idea of PR.

Thabks for your insight. Let's see how it goes.
Not job security for my kids.  They would do fine. Its the parents job security. Imagine lost job so have to go back malaysia probably. Kids have to serve 2 years of NS which in a way they will lose up to Malaysian that does not need to serve. But that said I was told they do get sgd1000 /month for serving NS. something to consider.
*
I don’t think your jobs will be adversely affected but your future PR renewal may be subject to scrutiny and with 6 million residents, they can easily choose someone they think is more ‘loyal’ to make up for the potential cancellation of your PR renewal.

Singapore government is very small minded and vindictive one.

I don’t think you can have the cake and it - and I mean it literally and figuratively. I kinda jump into conclusion when you brought up 1k in your post. Even if you apply without your kids, I think the chances for approval is probably low.

Don’t be a contrarian. Follow the system and abide. The conclusion is not clear for a reason because it can be applied both ways.
*
Yes. Because the vagueness suits the government’s plan and purpose. If an ex PR turns out to be a valuable asset, exceptions will be made to retain this talent.

If an ex PR is just another run of the mill mid-tier performer, you can kiss your job prospects in Singapore goodbye.

This is if they tried to dodge it after reaching NS age but if they did it before they reached NS age, then I doubt it. If you're interested, you could dive into the Enlistment Act to find out more.

They do however have "soft measures" that they can apply which would affect the kids and their kids ability to stay long term in SG. There are already official statements made on this.
*
And these measures are deliberately kept vague so the country’s interests are protected, sometimes to the detriment of family dynamics, but at times, with no consequences. The question is, how much of your child’s potential employment and resident future are you willing to wager?

Really ish chao kuan.

Sinkie doesn't like PR mostly because they can run road with CPF once they renounce PR upon retirement while Sinkie is stuck in SG + PR gets a lot of benefits.

Malaysians, if you intend to spend a large part of your life in SG, do make effort to integrate and contribute to the society.

Please don't go SG 几够力一下 and complain SG if you want to make a living here.
*
Well said. Contribute and reap your fair reward. Don’t game the system and extract only the benefits like a parasite.

But majority Malaysians are parasites. Come earn sgd > apply PR > no get complain but get then abuse. What's their purpose of PR then? Just for the gains, such as job security, CPF, etc.

Also to haolian to relatives and act like Singkie celups during CNY reunions

I'm not too sure about that because I was sponsored by my wife. I took a shortcut to PR .. haha .. maybe those that got it legitimately would be able to answer this. I think both would work.
*
I’m also sponsored by wife… I mean, I sponsored her when we applied for PRs decades ago, but she’s now sponsoring me for the next step…

Huh need her for citizen meh? I thought as long as ure a PR can just move next step le .. unless u want it to be fast .. just like me .. but having a sponsor do have drawbacks, e.g., upon divorce, you would lose your PR.
*
Fast tracked. I wanna get it sorted before I retire to Australia

1.00 Singapore Dollar = 1.13 Australian Dollars, so migrating to Australia is a good choice as well.
Enjoy your life in Australia with nicer weather, better transport, food, people, spaces, islands, mountain, air and beaches...
I think Singapore's population is increasing too fast, and the government needs to do more land reclamation by the sea. More and more space is needed.

Now the MRT is very crowded even non-peak hours and Woodlands customs are also packed.
Even on Sundays morning 10am, when I go back to JB, there are so many people queuing for buses 160/170/950 at Woodlands Custom.
*
Thank you. Singapore made my planned retirement in Australia possible, so for that I am grateful. We’re going over for bigger space, fresher air and less crowded places.

And long journeys in my Porsches obviously hahaha.

One Macan (in Singapore)

One Cayenne & one 911 (both in Australia)

If one of then is a sponsor, he/she has to be there for the renewal. So, unless you guys are in good terms, but I doubt.

No such issues with citizenship. Once I become a SC, I won't need to renew anything smile.gif
