I been interested in getting an e-scooters I been checking reviews on youtube but there aren't many from Malaysia so it's hard for me to make a call if I should get it or not. I looked it up on shopee and there's one for RM800 with a brand called Adelmar EVO X. I wanna ask everyone on this forum if you have experience owning one, and how difficulty it is to maintain. What about the battery replacement and how often does it need parts replacement. I will be using this scooter for pretty much daily to go to work. So any advice are appreciated.

Go rent one for whole day first then u only know gam u or not. Got few friend got this few month later all not using it any more due to very leceh .

I rented one before with beam. Liked it but I guess it's different from actually owning one where you need to charge, having to worry about spare parts. Was wondering if it's easily worn out.. Especially the battery.

Maybe easier if you can provide link (can't find your scoot) because there is 2 type of e scot that I know of. The old ones use big chunk of battery and the other 'newer' ones use smaller flat battery pack.

My friend & I have the old tech one. The battery lasted for about 2 years before 100% dead and cannot hold a charge.

There isn't any other maintenance you need to do other than worrying about the battery. Chains , tyre etc etc wont go out during your ownership (unless punctured). Once the battery is out, you need to replace the battery ranging from price RM 650 - RM 1k depending on how big it is and what type of battery using (lead acid ? I think this is the common one few years ago and now we also got lithium).

But get this, the whole bike was worth RM 1.2k when bought, but when the battery died, the replacement for the same size battery is close to RM 900 xP

If you live in an Apartment / flat, need to consider your battery is heavy to always bring it back to your home or it will be stolen. Depending on what model bla bla bla the battery is heavy. Mine is 15-20kg. I mean not heavy for a dude, but if live in flat, need to climb stairs or wait for lift and doing it everyday, I still think it is a chore.

TLDR: the most worrying part is the battery. Everything else is ok. Just consider every 2 years (at most), you will need to buy a new battery which is close to the value of your entire bike.

worth it is subjective , depending what u intend to do with it. if for last mile commute is efficient especially those sub 20kg. for hobby you may want to look at suspensions, ease of charge,lighting, waterproof, price. i use to own zero9 and 10. maintenance is fairly simple and there are utube tutorials. aside to electronics which may require longer tutorial hours. otherwise is like changing a spare tyre on a car. all you need is a toolbox.

does it really have to be electric scooters? would you consider having an electric unicycle (euc)? i prefer the euc because my hands are free to hold my bags or briefcase or phone or whatever. with a scooter you'll need both hands for stability. also euc have bigger tires so it will much safer on the road when hitting potholes or missing tiles.

i ride euc to the ERL station near my home. the train will take me to kl sentral and from there i ride my euc again to my office. so far very smooth sailing and this setup works perfect for me. i am using a very old euc however (bought in november 2015 for rm 3k) and the 30km battery is now only serving me 6km per charge. i'm thinking of changing the battery coz i found it on shopee cost rm 500 ish. my model is the ancient Ninebot One E+. with this setup i save RM 16 per day for overnight parking at the ERL station car park. i work midnight shift.

i have also encountered another guy using an euc at the ERL albeit a much newer and advanced model.

don't take the stated range at face value. it is typically much less.

unfortunately models like this, you won't find much info online about its functionality and reliability. from the looks, it is so uncannily similar to Xiaomi models, except the tires. battery lifetime is unknown from this ad. if you are planning to park it inside your house, charging won't be an issue, though. simply put it next to the power socket. certain Xiaomi model has magnetic connector, so it is more convenient to connect.

Ah, its one of these type. No experience with these type one, but if I had to complain, wah, this is standing type so simple design also price close to RM 800. Might as well go for the e-bike that look like a bike and can sit. You may make an argument that e-bike is illegal on the road and heavy though and this small e-scooter lighter and compact can go anywhere.

But same problem I think, battery will be your main concern. Those flat shaped battery price ranging from Rm 450 - Rm 650 depending capacity size.

If this is a hobby kind of purpose, I won't think about it as much. However, you want to use it as a daily commute, not sure how long this can stand.

Anyway, how far (KM) is your daily commute? Those link you share had fairly small battery (looking at Ah figure). ranging from 6-7.8 Ah, and stated distance is about 30KM, but expect it to be way less than that. But at the same time, these kinds of scoot does not seem to have a bigger size battery because of design limitation. However, while looking for the battery replacement seller, it does seem like there is bigger battery replacement of the same type available up to 10 Ah, so I am "assuming" there should be a scooter like this that have 10Ah capacity? Well, you have to look more into that.

2 yrs lifespan is freaking short

no wonder I also never see my neighbor ride their e-scoot

If buy, look for branded ones, many cases of battery overheat and explode during charging as no overheat/overcharge protection circuitry.

I bought a mi scoot when working at Turkey for the last mile commute and I'm still using it whenever I go for my fix 'teh ice.

- get one that is lightest.
- get one with full sus if u gonna ride on tarmac.
- get one with the biggest wheel.

Edit.
Been using it at least 5 year and above.
No overheat issue and it didn't kaboom on me.
Range drop from 20+km to 10+.
Torque drop n I suspect some cell is dead.
Changing the whole battery pack is around 3-4 hundred.

After news reporting electric scooter n bicycle exploded while charging n burned the house down n killed the occupants, i takut takut.

You might wanna consider buying one from an actual store instead of online for future maintenance / spareparts. I recall theres one in PJ called Starwheels. You can google them.

Brand or non-brand, charge it outdoors.

Put some floor tile around and make a wall. Incase fire, floor tile can act as firewall.

May I know which model of Mi is this?

I have been considering one for my daily commute to MRT station (tarmac road), instead of parking my car in open sun. Distance is average 2km one way.
My main criteria is Light and hill incline, that lead me to the Mi Scooter 3. (13.2kg /16% climb)

The essential is 12kg/10% climb. Would it really be diiferent to 16%?

Does these models have full suspension as you mentioned?
