Okay engineers here. I am recently interested to become a PE. Just applied Graduate Engineer after long time got my degree cert.
Now, I heard there are two ways for malaysian: One is through BEM, another is through IEM.
Both of them require you to work 3 years, in which 1 year need a supervisor/mentor to guide you.
After that, if you follow BEM path, you need to sit for PAE. If you follow IEM path, you need to sit for PI and upgrade to corporate member of IEM.
Then, baru you can apply for Professional Engineer.
I right or wrong? Is my understanding correct? If yes, why would people go for the IEM path? You need to pay for the IEM member fee again. Why not just follow BEM path, no need to pay for membership?
Another question, if follow BEM path, what should I do? As graduate engineer, i just simply find a mentor and ask him guide me for 1 year? Then after 3 years, I simply contact BEM for sitting PAE?
Professional Engineer (Ir.) ?
