any import tax or sst?
*
If you buy from Amazon, they will add "Import Fees Deposit" from the total amount.
The calculation of import fees is based on the receiving country. Take note it is JUST AN ESTIMATE. So either you get back a few ringgits or pay more if the calculation is not right.

So to answer your question, yes it has import tax/SST which is already included in the total amount you paid to Amazon.

- It's a Motorola Edge 40 as I am a fan of Moto.
- Yes, import tax is already included in the calculation when you pay Amazon.
You could still pay a bit more OR get a refund if Amazon miscalculated the import tax. Based on my experience with Amazon US, I still received a tax refund because they charged me more than they should.

(I am still waiting for DHL whether I need to pay additional tax for this imported item)

why so complicated one via amazon? I have bought countless of electronic devices from china never kena tax

All phones these days are global units unless you buy a CDMA phone (which is very rare since even Verizon Wireless in the US are using CDMA/GSM phones).
This is not my first time buying an imported phone so there should be no issue using Malaysia SIM.

What phone did you buy and why do you need to bypass?
RM100? Did you login to SIRIM and submit the application yourself?
Btw, if DHL is your courier, they will give you 2 options:

Option 1: You apply the SIRIM Clearance yourself -- which what I did. Login to SIRIM, submit all the documents and pay RM40.
Option 2: You let DHL do the "dirty work" which is not even difficult. You still need to send the all the document and they will submit the documents on your behalf.
How much will they charge? RM40 (for the clearance letter) + RM100 (DHL service fee) = RM140 LOL

Thanks for the info, didn't remember the model, it was back in 2016 i think, guess now already no need, i only sent email to sirim last time, good to know there's a system now.

What is complicated? Did you know when you buy from Shopee/Lazada/Aliexpress etc, you also paid for the tax?
They are not telling you if you paid too much tax but they already added the tax amount on the product itself. This is applicable to both overseas seller and local seller.

All items you buy online include tax already in the total price you paid the seller.

"Import Fees Deposit" = Tax
They put "deposit" instead of just "Import Fees" because there is a BUFFER. It's like you putting more money to them because they are not sure of the exact amount and they will give you back some of the tax deposit if you paid too much based on the customs calculation. Take note Amazon is dealing with 100+ countries = 100+ different governments.

You may ask how come Shopee and others have paid the exact amount? The answer is NO.
They may have charged you MORE but you do not get any refund. You just don't know it.

I think some people are confused why need SIRIM how come when I bought outside of Amazon no need SIRIM...

The answer is.. Shopee/ Lazada/ Aliexpress already have paid SIRIM and the amount is included in your item.
Then someone will again ask -- how come you need to deal with SIRIM yourself which is so much hassle? Because Amazon did not do it for you that is why their phones are wayyyy cheaper.

Then someone will say, you can buy cheaper phones elsewhere... The answer is this is only true for CHINA phones ONLY like Oppo/Vivo/OnePlus etc.
Try buying a Samsung/Apple from China and you will have the same price. This is also the reason why you do not see an overseas seller selling iPhone because they will not earn that much from selling it.

Amazon caters those brands that you see in Western countries like Apple, Google, Motorola and other brands that are not officially available in Malaysia. So if these brands are not phone you maybe you just stick to Shopee then.

Good for you then. You're the best among the rest thumbsup.gif

Don't worry I know what you're saying. I bought phones from Fast Tech so no need to brag about it.
The thing is, not everything is available in 1 contact that is why we have different platforms.

Oh what is wrong with FastTech? Honestly, I find his items very cheap and fast delivery as well.
I am not aware of any bad feedback to FastTech though.
